Travel Gawker: I Want To Go To… Alice Springs, Australia
I have wanted to visit Australia for as long as I can remember, (my obsession with ‘Home and Away’ probably played a small part in this) yet still to this day I have not managed to visit the country that I have spent hours daydreaming over. I have an image in my head of it being a magical country where your days are packed with outdoor activities and tea being cooked on a BBQ nightly. My wonderful boyfriend has been fortunate enough to visit Australia three times now and his passion for the country has once again reignited my Australian dream. We are now putting the wheels in motion for a trip there at the end of the year and I couldn’t be more excited. We will have lots of friends to visit whilst there but somewhere between visits I want to make sure we take a trip to Alice Springs.
I would begin my adventure on the Larapinta Trail…
A trail that runs for 223km along the backbone of the West Macdonnell Ranges from Alice Springs, west to St Sonder. The trek is an overnight adventure meandering through gorges, climbing over rugged ranges and offers numerous stunning views. Camping out under a sea of stars in the outback would certainly be the highlight of the experience.

The Red Ochre Grill Restaurant. Local Australian cuisine with lots of super awesome foods, Barramundi cakes and fried haloumi cheese are just two of my favorites!

Sounds of Starlight. Musicians interpret various stories with a wide range of didgeridoos, percussion and soundscapes.

The mysterious lives of Australia’s desert animals on the nocturnal tour. I’ve always wanted to see a wild Echidna!
As you can most probably tell I am huge fan of exploring the natural world so I couldn’t think of anywhere better experience this, than at Alice Springs.
