The Flight Back To Transylvania: A Styled Gothic Bridal Shoot

“We did a Gothic photoshoot last year in Whitby with three models and there was always meant to be a fourth dress. The dresses were to represent the four lairs of Dracula and this part of the story was to portray the flight back to Transylvania. We wanted to incorporate the previous shoot in some way so we printed vintage looking photos and pegged them into the trees, this looked quite haunting and the bare trees and mist also reflected that.

The background of the hotel appearing closer and closer in the photos was to represent her finally going back to Dracula. We wanted to shoot somewhere that had a Gothic feel to it and Ettington Park in Stratford Upon Avon was the perfect spot for this acting as Draculas castle. The aim for the photography was to have Pixie looking moody yet very much alive. I used smoke bombs to create the misty haunting feel within some of the photos and used the sun to create flare which also helped with this look. I used a lot of off camera flash to get the darkness of the trees and the venue in some of the photos which really made Pixie pop out of the photos.

This shoot was also to portray once again the alternatives to the ordinary wedding attire, the Gothic clothing is just as gorgeous and the hair, make up and bouquet really added to it. If you want this look for your wedding just go and do it, you have no need to follow the rules and choose something you are not comfortable with!”
