Bespoke Bride at The Alternative Wedding Fair
If anyone ever needed proof of how passionate about Bespoke Bride we are, getting up at 8am on a Sunday morning to travel 3 hours to the Corn Exchange, Cambridgeshire for the Alternative Wedding show would have been it. We were prepared with a good healthy breakfast of Haribo, Doritos, pain au chocolates, Ribena and of course Coffee.
After getting stuck at a dead end (thanks to our trusty Satellite Navigation!) and driving around the one way system twice just trying to find the entrance to a car park (only women drivers!) we finally entered the promised land, the UK’S first alternative wedding fair.
The venue was attended by dress designers such as Elisabeth Armstrong, who specialised in beautiful couture wedding gowns and corsetry and Vikki Lafford the founder of Liliia, who creates stunning designs that can only be described as wearable art.
A couple of our favourites were ‘The Original Tea Towel’, a company that only started up 11 months ago and have already received fantastic reviews from other wedding bloggers such as Rock My Wedding and have also featured in Brides Magazine. We loved them as they are doing there bit to help the environment by printing invites onto materials such as tea towels and bags. We do have samples so if anyone would like to take a look please leave a comment and we will get back to you.
Another favourite of ours was ‘Fancy Freckle’ another new business that specialises in making vintage fascinators, hair bands, clips and jewellery.
Towards the end of the fair, of course we were getting hungry so we were instantly drawn to the smell of the gorgeous cupcakes made by Ami at Ami’s Cupcakes. In a way were glad that she was from Harlow, London as if she had lived near we would have to spend way more time in the gym. We know Harlow isn’t local but to any of our Bespoke friends living nearby, you should totally check her out.
Our highlight of the day however was meeting Elbie Van Eeden, a hair and make-up stylist based in London, who specialises in fashion, beauty, editorial, runway and bridal. Rock N Roll bride Kat, loves her as we could tell from the many photos Elbie had on display of shoots that they had worked on together. Our own photographer offered herself to Elbie to be her hair model and got this amazing bow style.
The Alternative Wedding show was a truly awesome day, worth sacrificing our Sunday morning lie ins for and obviously the rugby world cup final.
We hope its success continues next year!
