Winter Wedding Make-Up
Winter is a magical time of year to get married, crisp cold mornings bring with them sparkling frosts and falling snow sets a dazzling scene.
Summer weddings are all about bright colours and light airy make-up whereas winter is darker and heavier and can be reflected in the make-up you wear. We have teamed up with Simone Weldon, a young make-up artist to advise you, on the dos and don’ts of winter wedding make-up.
“It is important to enhance your best features in winter as the time of year can really drain the skin of its natural complexion. Skin is naturally a lot paler so make-up that looks too tanned or dark, doesn’t usually work, therefore when choosing a foundation it is important to choose one that acts to even out skin tone rather than add colour. If you feel a little too pale then pick a slightly tinted moisturiser instead. Cheeks work well with a light bronzer just to give a touch of winter glow.
With winter make-up much of the focus is on the eyes. Layers are good way of adding colour without them looking too dark. Use lighter shades like white and beige in the innermost corner and gradually build up a darker tone like blue’s, grey’s or blacks towards the outer corners of the eye. Natural strip eyelashes can be used to thicken your own eyelashes and help to widen the eye.
Pale frosty lips are a must but if you’re feeling a little more brave shades of red really give that Christmassy feel and look.
Winter make-up is tough to get right so some may find it easier to enlist in the help of professional, top quality products are a necessity for longwearing and water proof make-up is essential, as winter weather is known to be a little un predictable at times.”
We hope this helps those that are considering a winter wedding, we want you to look just as magical.
