Christmas and New Year are over and it’s been a bumper time for engagements. We have been inundated with emails asking us advice on all sorts of things such as when to send out save the dates and invitations, finding a ceremony or reception venue, how to decide on numbers of guests and how to get to grips with the paper work. Today we will be discussing how to set a colour scheme or theme, and over the next few weeks we will try to guide our brides with everything from setting a budget right up until how to relax and enjoy your wedding day. Deciding on a colour palette or theme for your Wedding

Let us first start by saying huge CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You’re engaged and now the fun times are going to begin! We want you to enjoy the run up to your big day, so often you will hear brides discussing how stressed they are but there really is no need for it to be stressful. Planning your wedding should be enjoyable, truly special and unique to you.

The first thing you will begin to think about is your colour scheme or theme of your wedding. Many reflect this in their wedding stationary in order to set the style for the whole day. Inspiration can come from the time of year you plan to have your wedding, winter weddings hold connotations of deep, warm colours, hot comfort food and festive wreaths. Summer weddings are lighter with fresh tastes, cool linen, roses and peonies.

If you’re still not sure, then there are a number of events that occur throughout the year that you could gather creativeness from such as Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day of the year, think pinks and reds. Easter is the start of new beginnings so use baby blues, pinks, pale yellows and mint green, the time of year could be represented by using mini chocolate eggs as favours.

If you would rather not set a theme and would like to keep it simple with use of colour instead then there are a number of traditional colours that work well together, such as cream and pink and Lavender and Ivory, more modern colours that work well are Black and White, and chocolate brown and blue.

You may decide you would like to have a vintage wedding characterised by mismatched floral china, antique suitcases, beautiful lace dresses and jam jars. Eco chic weddings are now becoming ever more popular as people are now aware that you no longer have to compromise your taste, with a growing numbers of designer labels and companies who embrace environmentally friendly weddings.
