Mariel Hannah Photography- “Share your story the way it should be told”

We are extremely excited to introduce a very talented photographer to you today! One of the reasons we couldn’t wait to feature Mariel Hannah is because of how incredibly passionate she is about her work. We found her so inspiring to talk to about what her aims are during a wedding and a photo shoot; it’s refreshing to meet a photographer who is so in love with love!

When we asked Mariel how she got into photography it became apparent that she didn’t even realise how liberating she found photography until the day she was asked to do a shoot!

Mariel tell us how you got into photography:

“Have you ever wanted something it makes your heart ache at the thought of not having it? It’s almost as if your world will crumble if you can’t have it…. My journey as a photographer began at the very moment when a good friend of mine approached me with an idea of doing a shoot. Me? Why me? I thought to myself –I had no experience shooting portraits, let alone any knowledge in photography. Sure I have a DSLR, and I take “Okay” pictures, but I only bought that camera so I can take personal pictures – not pictures of other people…. There I was, on a cold December afternoon thanking that sun shined for just enough of the photos. That day when I picked up my camera implying the start of the shoot a feeling of contentment, happiness and belongingness overcame me. All my fears and uncertainty? Gone… From then on, I knew I would do anything I can to make photography my career. Every time I do a shoot, it’s as if I am a new person – I get in this zone that is unexplainable. There are times where my assistant will tell me “Times Up” because, I can just shoot for hours.”

“I’m in love with photography and I am in love with capturing the beauty that each and every person posses’. This is not only my job. But photography is my art, my passion, it’s who I am.”

What made you want to specialise in wedding photography?

“The thought of capturing two people so in love make their commitment to one another is something so beautiful. An opportunity I cannot live without”

Her goal as a photographer is to focus heavily on weddings, along with fashion photography. But Mariel’s ultimate dream is to be an international wedding photographer; she is based in California and is completely happy to travel ANYWHERE! Whether you are across the street, across the city or across the world! Mariel would be thrilled!
