21 Alternative & Unique Guest Book Ideas
Don’t get us wrong, we love a guest book full of inspirational and encouraging messages from your guests, it’s just sometimes it’s nice to mix it up a little! So here’s a few (ok 21) alternative ideas if you fancy something a little different!
♥ Yep, that’s right! JENGA! Get your guests to write their messages on the individual blocks!
♥ Writing on wine bottles is a perfect idea for the couple’s who are particularly fond of a glass of wine, plus it makes a lovely keep sake to perhaps open on future anniversaries.
♥ Well wishes onto a guitar gets our instant approval! We LOVE this!
♥ Guest book alternatives that tie into a wedding theme are becoming increasingly popular, we’ve seen a few like the one above that have notes from guests inside a suitcase!
♥ Here’s another perfect example of tying your guest book into your theme! This particular one was hand made and we adore the messages on the petals!
♥ Guest books that can be displayed afterwards always get our vote, it’s lovely to have a constant reminder of your day.
♥ Messages of encouragement on pebbles. Simply lovely.
♥ You can always lay out lots of coloured pens on a huge table cloth for your guests to sign!
♥ Ok. So in theory this is a guest book, but we love polaroids so much we just couldn’t resist this one!
♥ This ‘Up’ inspired poster lets guests write their messages on balloon shaped card!
♥ Another great example of a themed ‘guest book’. Something like this would be perfect for a woodland or forest inspired wedding!
♥ Putting letters of love where they belong; In a letter box! Gorgeous idea.
♥ Or alternatively, display lots of envelopes for your guests to slot their notes in!
♥ This one is a little different but absolutely brilliant! Instead of a guest book this couple asked their guests to write a story of how they knew the bride or groom!
♥ Writing messages onto a map is great for a travel themed wedding or for a couple who’s travelling after their big day!
♥ aaahhhhhh. Amazing. Messages on a vinyl of the bride & grooms favourite song!
♥ If vintage is something that will be showcased throughout your wedding day then a type writer is a perfect fit for the theme!
♥ Signing the couple’s initials is also something that’s becoming quite trendy!
♥ A guest book tree! All of the lovely messages tied on by ribbon to create a beautiful presentation of well wishes!
♥ ‘Share your key to success’. We completely fell in love with this when we saw it! It’s clever and beautiful.
♥ And last, but not least, something quite similar to Jenga, Getting guests to sign jig saw puzzle pieces for future use!
This is obviously just a small sample of alternative guest books, the possibilities are endless for things you can get guests to sign!
If you did something creative with your guest book, please get in touch and let us know!

I really like your blog.. very nice colors & theme.
Did you create this website yourself or did you hire someone to do it for you?
Plz answer back as I’m looking to design my own blog and would like to know where u got this from. appreciate it
Hi, yes we designed it ourselves with a theme that could be customised through WordPress, hope this helps and good luck with your own blog!
Cool site 😀 I am definitely looking forward to
seeing more posts 😀
Guest book puzzles are proving really popular. They are a great alternative and look amazing framed. Even had one order for a 700 piece puzzle that was going to be inlaid into a table. How amazing would that be?
From the sound of your post I get the impression you make the wooden jigsaw puzzles. If that’s true, I would LOVE to order one. Please let me know. Thank you
I am afraid we do not sell the wooden jigsaw puzzles as we are not a supplier. However you could try sites like Etsy, Not on the Highstreet or DIY them yourself? Hope that helps?

Hi,
As our entertainment we are having a silouhettist who will do two cut outs – one that each guest will take home as their ‘favour’ and another that can be stuck into a guest book for them to comment beside. Is there something better I could do rather than sticking into an average book and writing beside? I just cannot think of an alternative at the moment and would welcome a suggestion. Thanks
I was wondering where i could purchase the large letter of the couples last name so the guests at the bridal shower could write on. You can email me. Thank you
Absolutely love the idea of the logs…we are having logs as the tiers for our wedding cake and also having some personalised as cheeseboards
for the guests…….why didn’t i think of them as guest books too ??!!
Many thanks for the inspirational blog xx
where can i get the jig saw puzzle one i love that idea
Very descriptive post, I liked that a lot.
Will there be a part 2?
There will most certainly be a part 2, this has to be one of our most popular posts ever!
Great original wedding book ideas, thanks.
We have birds as our theme and we were going to go for bird shaped cards to hang on a tree but now i have seen this post i was wondering if anyone had any quirkier ideas…..? x
Beach theme: leave a “message in a bottle” have a large empty bottle out and scraps of paper for guests to write on then roll up and fill the bottle.
The puzzle is my favorite 🙂
Congratulations on a very successful and have a colorful site
what kind of pen can you use to write on the wine bottles?
Hi Sherri, you can get all types of colored permanent markers they should work fine 🙂
x x x
funny, cuz i’ve seen all colors of permanent markers except white!
Sure you can I have seen them in staples, hobby craft…. check online x
What an attractive blog! Love your colors and thank you for not making the text a hideous light gray!
Similar to the “S” cutout above, the letter “R” & “S” in black was exactly what we used, (one for each of our names) with a smaller Ampersand for the middle.
Also being dog lovers, we ordered a bone-shaped ring bearer cutout that was a riot!
The 24″ letters were perfect for our guests to sign and now they are in our family room. Am not sure if I can mention it for those interested, but we ordered them from route17west weddings on Etsy
Kudos to Bespoke Bride, Thanks for sharing this great article, I really loved all your ideas especially the messages of encouragement on pebbles. It is simple yet unique. While reading your article I wondered what wedding theme would be fit to this ideas and so while browsing I found this great article about gorgeous wedding reception theme that so inspiring, and I think retro theme would be better. Here’s the link https://juancarlothecaterer.com/blog/5-gorgeous-wedding-reception-themes-thatll-inspire/.
There are some great ideas here. I like the records. We used one of these drop in frames https://www.etsy.com/listing/180424694/wedding-guest-book-plinko-drop-in-hearts
Loving all these ideas x
Do you know how to print out the black labels for the polaroid guestbook? I love that idea! Any help appreciated!
Hi. I love the blog but not really what I’m looking for in an alternative to guest book for my wedding. It’s a “Roaring 20’s” theme and colors are black and white. I can’t think of anything to do different that pertains to that theme although I really do like the puzzle idea but want to stay away from what everyone else seems to do doing. Can you think of any ideas that might be useful? Thanks so very much. The wedding is next July (2015) so there is plenty of time for me to decide. Thanks so very much once again.
Hi Teresa
I am sorry you have not been able to find what you are looking for here, have you tried our ‘Alternative Guest Book’ Pinterest boards for more ideas: https://www.pinterest.com/bespokebride/guest-books/ ?? I really love the black globe and vinyl record ideas there and they would fit nicely with you black and white colour scheme? You could also try Etsy.com they are great for alternative ideas. I hope that has helped some and good luck with your wedding next year!

I just love it, when it’s a “stay indoors” kind of day and you’ve got a spellbinding book open and you’re in world of dreams, challenge and adventure.
bookmarked, brilliant site!
Hi! I just discovered your blog and I really love your article and the tips! I am not at all a conventional person but I would like to have all my memories in one place after the wedding and be able to enjoy them, so I fell in love with the idea of a guestbook where guests would stick polaroid photos that you mention! Our wedding will have retro theme and this seems perfect. I did a lot of research online and I found some beautiful guestbooks in an online shop here in the Netherlands (they do deliver everywhere) https://atelierbyroxandsan.com/en/shop/now I just have to decide which colour to pick, although I’m almost sure I’ll go for the green one!
These are some great ideas – we love the Jenga and vintage typewriter ideas (although we bet that some guests might write or type some inappropriate messages)!
We have created some pretty printable ‘quizzes’ / surveys for weddings guests – another alternative to a guestbook – and people seem to like them. Take a look at: https://etsy.me/1uBA1Ao
Very lovely! beautiful ideas!
very good. thank you…
Admiring the time and effort you put into your site and detailed information you
offer. It’s great to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same out
of date rehashed material. Great read! I’ve saved your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to my Google account.
I was wondering what you paint the wine bottles with so people can write on them? is there a DIY blog somewhere. Thanks so much.
Hi Diane
It is chalk paint, you can see a tutorial here: https://www.bespoke-bride.com/2013/03/05/diy-how-to-create-chalkboard-bottles/

Thanks for sharing this! It has always been tough to promote veganism, no matter from any part of the world. We need to bring more attention to the public than being in style and in fashion can be clean, green and cruelty free!
