Food DIY: Dark Chocolate Orange Mousse
Yummm! Anyone else love chocolate mousse?! How about terry’s chocolate orange? Yep, me too, well this tastes like both of them rolled together and the best news? It’s not THAT bad for you since we’re using dark chocolate and sweetener! Plus there’s orange in it…so that’s gotta count for one your 5 a day right?!
You will Need:
♥ 3 Eggs
♥ 60g Dark Chocolate
♥ 1 Orange
♥ 6 Table spoons of sweetener
♥ 4 Table spoons of natural fromage frais (optional)
Step 1: Measure out 60g of chocolate, break into smaller pieces and place in a bowl on top of a pan of simmering water.
Step 2: Stir until melted.
Step 3: Finely grate the zest of half the orange
Step 4: Separate the egg whites and the yolks into to separate bowls.
Step 5: Beat the egg whites with an electric whisk on a medium speed until stiff.
Step 6: Add 4 table spoons of sweetener and the grated orange zest to the bowl of yolks.
Step 7: Whisk up until the texture is consistent and smooth.
Step 8: Add the chocolate
Step 9: Mix in using a spoon until the mixture is smooth
Step 10: Using a large metal spoon fold in the egg whites until well combined.
Step 11: Spoon into individual serving cups or glasses and put in the fridge to chill for 3-4 hours.
Step 12: Using the other half of the orange peel some thin strips of peel.
Step 13: Pop in a pan of 200ml of water, add 2 table spoons of sweetener and bring to the boil.
Step 14: Reduce to a medium heat and let simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Step 15: Drain off and use the soft & glazed peel to decorate the top of the chilled mousses.
Step 16: Serve with a spoonful of fromage frais & a slice of orange if you so fancy!
Voila! A yummy dessert!
