Jess’ Current Book Obsessions
I don’t know about you but i’m obsessed with books. I love collecting them, I love displaying them and above all I’m a sucker for a good coffee table book that’s filled with gorgeous photos! The only problem is, I have the horrific ability of rarely finishing one because I get so excited about my new book that’s just arrived! Hence why this post is a collection of my five favourite books right now instead of just one! Trust me when I say these babies are absolute gems to own! I cherish every single one of them…
The Book Of Awesome is first up and is pretty much EXACTLY what it says on the tin! This is one of my favourite books of all time and I think it always will be as it’s filled with such positivity! Honestly, it’s all about cherishing the little things in life that a lot of us don’t even give a second thought to. These small events actually are super awesome when you think about them and this book is literally a massive list of them! I’ll give an example of one of them in here…
“Saying the same thing a sports commentator says just before they say it” Because at that moment you go from a lazy potato chips fan lying on the couch in a crumb-covered pile of sweatpants, bedhead and BO to an insightful sports critic with a sharp eye, quick tongue and backup second career. AWESOME!”
Cute isn’t it? It’s teamed with so many other great moments too like ‘waking up before your alarm clock and realizing you’ve got lots of sleep time left’ and ‘When you arrive at your destination just as a great song ends on the radio’ This book is guaranteed to make YOU HAPPY! Dare you to read it without smiling…
Nerd Alert! Information is Beautiful is a fabulous coffee table book that displays facts in interesting ways! Some of the facts are hilarious too! For example ‘International Number Ones. Because every country is the best at something’. In the UK we’re apparently best at CCTV?! While Mexico is best for televisions and Costa Rica is best at happiness! Did you also know that your chance of dying from a falling coconut is 1 in 250,000,000? Or how about that in an average life span of 77 years you’ll spend 28 years sleeping, 24.5 years working, 8.5 years watching the television (WHAT?!) and 3.5 years eating/drinking! CRAZY! Want to know more facts displayed beautifully through graphics? Then you need this book!
Ahhhhh Handmade Weddings you little cutie! This beautiful book would be brilliant for any DIY brides out there! It includes 50 different tutorials on everything from Save the dates, invitations, pom poms, place mats and even cake toppers! It’s pretty much a how to for your entire wedding and the best part is that you can personalise it completely to you! If you don’t like the colours, change them! Don’t want floral like sometimes in this book? Try Aztec! It’s all completely customisable! This would make a fab gift for a bride to be too!
Calling all Law Of Attraction and positive thinking fans! ‘Excuse Me Your Life Is Waiting‘ is for you! I’ve lent it out so many times that it’s a bit worn and torn but that just goes to show how great I think it is! Lynn Grabhorn talks about how it’s more about positive FEELING that positive thinking to get the ball rolling in your fabulous life! She breaks it down and it’s super easy to read and devour. ‘It finally clarifies why most of our dreams have never materialised, why we have lived with all too empty bank accounts, tough relationships, failing health and spiritually unfulfilling lives’ This book shows us how-with no effort other than paying attention to how we’re feeling- to turn it all around and make the world our oyster! IT’S AMAZING.
Last but certainly not least is Design Sponge At Home. I could not wait for this little baby to arrive in the post and when I ripped open the packaging I was not dissapointed! It’s full to the brim with jaw droppingly beautiful houses by designers, artists, bloggers, etc and that’s just the first third! The second third is tons of DIY home ideas and what makes these DIYS so great is that they give you an average cost to make it and roughly how long it’s going to take you! How helpful! Then we get to finish off the book with a heap of before and after’s, from small projects like recovering chairs to full on house renovations! It’s fabulous because it leaves you feeling inspired and super driven!
Tell me, what books are you getting stuck into at the moment? Do you have a cherished favourite book that you recommend to everyone? I’d love to hear about it so I can get my grubby mitts on a copy!
Much Bespoke Love
Jess ♥
