A Chevron-tastic Inspired Beach Shoot
Both myself and Jess are crazy about chevron at the moment. I love it so much, I am thinking of subtle ways to work it into my home and I should have a great chevron themed home DIY coming up for you very soon. So when I saw sneak peeks of this shoot floating around on Twitter I just had to share it with you lovely people. The details are out of this world amazing and the beach set up is just so beautiful! Be warned you will want your wedding to look like this, I promise!!
The shoot was styled by Elle from Inspire Hire who will tell you all about the inspiration behind this fabulousness…
“When I plan styled shoots I am always influenced by the things that I really love. My greatest love (apart my husband and my little dog) is the sea. It was the draw of the sea (and the husband) that took me away from my native North-West to live and work in Cornwall.
We spent a lovely day at The Rosevine, a big house by the sea. The Rosevine is a stylish and comfortable big house hotel and apartments that couples can take over and call home for the duration of their wedding. The stunning sea views from the grounds make a wonderful backdrop for sunset photos and the pretty cove at the bottom of the road is perfect for a beach barbecue to welcome your guests.
Our photographer is originally from South Africa, where relaxed beach wedding ceremonies are very common, and with the increase in popularity of humanist ceremonies we decided to create one on the beach, a pebble’s roll away from the Rosevine.
I made a flowing ribbon backdrop for our seaside couple, which fluttered in the sea breeze. The sandy aisle had an aqua chevron fabric runner and was lined with pretty little glass baubles filled with succulent plants. The ghost chairs just melted into the coastal scene.
Our couple travelled in style the short ride back to the venue, in the only way appropriate for a wedding in Cornwall – in Sunshine the VW Camper.
The colours of the coast and my new obsession with chevrons influenced the styling of this inspirational shoot. I made a grey chevron fabric runner for the table and adorned each place setting with an aqua chevron print napkin and a tiny succulent plant as a favour. The coloured glasses were a simple addition to finish off the contemporary table. The floral arrangements reflected the grey and aqua tones with more fabulous succulents. Caroline Crabb of Fleurtations also created the beautiful bouquet for our bride and a buttonhole for our laid-back groom. The stylish stationery from Knots and Kisses completed the table.
Kris and Suzie looked relaxed and informal for a barefoot wedding, with Kris in linen from Marks & Spencer and Suzie in beautiful dresses from County Cream Bridal House.
The fabulous Sarah Drew frequently works with beach finds to create her beautiful bridal accessories. I found it hard to hand back the gorgeous shell headdress at the end of the day!
Suzie’s laid back tousled hair was styled by Sarah Hooper and her natural sun-kissed makeup was by Serene Victoria.
At Inspire Hire we frequently come up with fun themed drinks and dessert stations for couples and for this shoot we created a coastal cocktail bar with a ‘help yourself’ Mojito dispenser, funky glasses and chevron patterned straws.
The dessert table from Cornish Fancies featured sweet treats of popcorn, handmade marshmallows, lamintons, macaroons and bite-sized meringues, with a beautiful metallic silver cake finishing off the table.
The beautiful wedding cake from Cupcake Mamma reflects the style of the shoot with the chevron detailing, a true show stopper!
Everyone fell in love with the Illuminated Love sign from Inspire Hire which, positioned in the Rosevine sitting room, made a great prop for bridal photos.
I think this shoot showcases what is truly fabulous about getting married in Cornwall: fabulous suppliers, wonderful venues and, of course, the beauty of the Cornish coast.”
