Wedding DIY: How To Make Scratch Card Wedding Invitations
Me & Em have always been a fan of invitations that have something a little bit exciting about them, ESPECIALLY when you have to reveal the message yourself through some crazy way! We’ve seen a few scratch card ‘save the dates’ around the net and decided that a scratch card wedding invitation would be equally awesome! To make the whole process even easier I’ve created some downloadable invitations and all you need to do is choose which colour you want & print a load out onto some A4 white card!
To download the file of 1 individual invitation just click the colour you want here: Green, pink, black, yellow, orange, blue, purple, red.
OR to download the invitations that are already set up to print (2 per page of one colour) just click which colour you like here: Green, pink, black, yellow, orange, blue, purple, red.
You could of course do this with other invitations if you like, just mix up the scratch card formula and paint away!
You will need:
♥ White card ♥ Washing up liquid ♥ Acrylic Paint (I chose a glitter one!) ♥ Paint brush ♥ Double sided tape
Ready?
Step 1: Download and print out your invitations, then fill them in with the details you want to be revealed underneath!
Step 2: Mix up your scratchable liquid. It needs to be 1 part washing up liquid, 2 part acrylic paint.
Step 3: Cut out your double sided tape and place on top of the area that will be painted/scratched.
Step 4: Paint your first layer of mixture onto the card and allow to thoroughly dry
Step 5: Add on your next layer of paint/washing up liquid mixture and allow to dry again. Repeat this step until you can no longer see anything underneath.
Step 6: Leave to dry really really well (I left mine over night) then voila! Feel free to do a tester scratch! Go on…I know you want to…

I love that they are so simple but that they also make a statement. I have a craft fair in September and I think I will use this idea. 🙂
Wow!! What a creativity with wedding cards! I hadn’t seen it before. You have given step by step information about this card and it’s easy to understand. I’m planning wedding for next year and Its really very cool Idea to give invitation to our relative with scratch option. It is very unique for my guest and I know they will remember my wedding forever.

What is “washing up liquid”?
Hey Andrea! Here in the UK we use it wash dishes with, but its just soap that you would use to wash dishes, pots, pan etc 🙂
