Food DIY: How To Make Heart Shaped Rice Krispie Cookies

I am so excited to share this DIY with you today as it seriously has the yum factor! I’ll be honest and tell you these were actually meant to be rice crispy pops but we couldn’t get the sticks into them without them breaking up so we turned them into cookies which are equally as tasty! We were thinking that these would make great cheap and easy wedding favours as one batch of mix probably made around 20 – 25 cookies and all the ingredients together came to around £6 – bargain!

So here is how we did it…

You will need ♥ 1 box of Rice Krispies ♥ 1 Pack of Marshmallows ♥ 2 tbsp of butter ♥ 1/2 tsp of red food colouring ♥ 1 large bar of white chocolate ♥ sprinkles for decoration ♥ Heart shaped cookie cutter

Lets get making!

Step 1: Add your Marshmallows and butter into a bowl and microwave for 2 minutes

Step 2: Remove the bowl, mix well and heat for another minute.

N.b. Your mixture should really be a little fluffier than what is shown here, we blasted a bit to much, LOL!

Step 3: Gradually mix in 3 cups of rice Krispies

Step 4: Mix well until all the moisture has been soaked up. You may find you need to add another 1/2 cup or so of rice krispies if 3 isn’t enough to soak up your mixture.

Step 5: Spread the mixture out on a baking tray and flatten to about an inch thick and leave to cool.

Step 6: Cut out shapes with the heart shaped cookie cutter.

Step 7: Set aside to cool for a little longer -in the meantime move on to step 8.

Step 8: Break your white chocolate up into squares and place in a heatproof bowl. Add water to a pan and boil. Place the bowl on top of the pan and allow the chocolate to melt, taking care not to let it stick.

Step 9: spread the chocolate onto the flat side of the rice krispie hearts.

Step 10: Add your sprinkles and voila, you have heart shaped rice krispie cookies!
