A Willy Wonka Styled Shoot for Weird and Wonderful Wedding World!
Styled shoots are a wonderful thing. They’re even more wonderful when you get to spend the day with friends and fantastic suppliers in the industry! This is exactly what happened when me and Emily headed off to Bristol a few months ago to help out with the promo shoot for Weird and Wonderful Wedding World! Little did we know it was going to be one of the BEST styled shoots we had ever seen!! It was a day filled with pretty pastels, scrumptious sweets and crazy confetti! I even got to make a little appearance in the shoot because one of the models didn’t turn up! Wait until you see the AMAZING pair of shoes I got to wear…
We’ll hand you over to the awesome Emily from Fishee Designs to tell you more! Make sure you watch Mrs Mashup‘s video at the end of the post too, it is absolutely incredible!! So much fun!
“Laura and I got thinking about the 2014 shoot after a couple of glasses of wine at a wedding networking event back in October. We were conjuring all kinds of crazy ideas for the 2014 WWWW Bristol photo shoot, both of us had so many ideas for alternative shoots, but we had to go with something that would represent the show best. We were also keen to create something that would be a complete contrast to last years dark and mysterious styled bridal shoot. We wanted it to be fun and colourful and so we came up with a Willy Wonka inspired shoot, which represented our love for idiosyncratic weddings! We were keen to be as quirky as possible whilst sticking within the realms of a traditional wedding so we curated all the traditional elements, but presented them in a really unique and fun way.”
Willy Wonka is eccentric and entertaining and we wanted the styled wedding to reflect that. The shoot took a few different turns with the styling during the planning process. There wasn’t a hint of white throughout the entire wedding, instead the set was filled with pastel pinks, lilacs, yellows and blues and a strong purple inspired by Wonkas velvet suit and gold inspired by the golden ticket (of course!) were the highlights of colour featured in the shoot. We were lucky enough to be able to use the same venue as the show, At-Bristol, proving that with a bit of creativity, it is possible to turn a blank white room in to a spectacular space!
“I wanted to create a dress that was beautiful, unique and completely accessible to everyone. So I created the dress seen in the shoot for under £70 and a bit of DIY! There will be the full DIY on the blog in a few weeks so keep your eyes peeled! It featured a handmade belt and a customised corset! But A Willy Wonka inspired wedding wouldn’t be complete without a wall of sweets, we had the pleasure of working with Emily’s Best Sweet Shop, who provided us with an abundance of sweets for the day. Finesse Planning got involved to help with the styling and they dressed the table perfectly, filled with hundreds and thousand decorated glass wear, golden tickets, sherbet space saucers and teamed the whole thing with perfectly colour coordinated flowers from Sorori Designs! Fairford Balloons also created a wall of balloons following the colour scheme which we teamed with an abundance of paper poms from Pom Pom Studio. I then spent £15 on coloured paper and borrowed a shredder and spent the afternoon shredding the paper to create bags and bags of pastel coloured confetti too! A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!”
“Sticking with the pastel theme, we went for a Mint Green bride, with deco den sweetie accessories. The bride’s crown was made bespoke by Crown and Glory and the bridesmaids fascinator was made to match too then Revive Me Boutique created the fabulous matching button embellished shoes!”
