A Rustic Country DIY Wedding in Selah Springs, Texas – Chloe & Landry
Chloe and Landry wanted a completely stress free wedding. Instead of worrying about the day they used the whole weekend as a chance to spend quality time with their family and friends at the beautiful Selah Springs in Texas. The wedding really was a family affair with most of the decor being DIY and the brides sister even played DJ for the night.
Here is Chloe to tell you about her day…
The Details of the Day…
We really wanted to embrace the beauty of the outdoors and create a wedding that had the perfect mix of rustic, country and DIY. With this is mind we decided to marry at the Selah Springs Ranch in Brady, TX. The ceremony was right on the Saba river, it was so beautiful with a huge green Oak tree, the river flowing by and hills surrounding us. The lodge where we held our reception was situated on top of a hill and was lit up with lots of lights in the evening – it looked stunning!
I thought I was going to find, discovering the perfect dress a bit of a mission so I prepared myself by booking multiple appointments at boutiques in Dallas, TX. I totally surprised myself however when I walked into the first boutique and came across a La Sposa dress that would be perfect for me. It was ivory and elegant and had just the right look to wear with my cowboy boots. Landry and the groomsmen wore ivory coloured suits but decided as the wedding was to be outside and was more of a relaxed affair they would go without suit jackets. The bridesmaids wore mint green strapless dresses and my maid of honour wore a champagne coloured dress which I thought tied all the wedding party together nicely.
Most of our decor was DIY, with the help of my family and wedding party we were able to create my picture perfect wedding with lots of rustic and country style touches. We used DIY mason jars with chalkboard paint where guests could write their names and fill their drink with whatever they chose! They were able to take these home with them. Our cake was three tier, vanilla with burlap tied around each tier. It was rustic and a perfect touch to our wedding. The best bit of DIY however had to be by my sister who DJ’d for us and it was a blast!!! The dance floor was lit up strung with lights all around.
Chelsea Mitchell Photography was our photographer. I chose her for multiple reasons, one being she is my cousin, but mostly because she captures the most perfect moments. She shoots film and the photos from my wedding are the most raw and beautiful pictures I’ve ever seen. She was so wonderful and easy to work with, making sure she did not miss a single important moment. When I received my photos in the mail I was in awe. She is incredible and will do anything and everything you ask of her!
Our day was so special because it was an entire weekend stay with family and friends. The day before the wedding was one of my favourite moments because we were able to take a relaxing dip in the pool with our best friends. Nothing was rushed about our special day and we had everything prepared and set up the day before. The groom enjoyed his day of golf with his groomsmen and they all hung out at the bunkhouse about a mile from the lodge whereas myself and my bridesmaids spent some quality time with each other, it was perfect!
If I could give any advice to couples getting married in the future it would be to remember that your day is about you and your spouse. No matter how stressed you think you should be, remember that you will never get this day back again. Enjoy it! Know that you have prepared all that you can up until the morning you wake up as a soon to be bride and groom. Enjoy all the little moments leading up to the ceremony and take a deep breath before the ceremony starts. Don’t be so nervous that you look back and can’t remember that special moment. Take it all in and laugh as much as you can the day of your wedding!
