Wedding DIY: How To Make A Feather & Flower Crown
Boy do we have a treat for you beauties today! Natalie & Guy from Curious Fair are here to show you have to make a GORGEOUS crown to sit upon that pretty head of yours, but let me tell you, this isn’t any ordinary floral crown; it’s filled with lovely feathers creating a cute enchanted forest look! Awesome right? Over to Natalie & Guy to show you how it’s done…
“We’ve been so excited about creating our very first DIY post for Bespoke Bride! We know how much the girls love a pretty crown & luckily for us, they are our specialty! This one will wash away your winter blues & get you in the mood for festival season a little bit early! It’s perfect for a boho bride :)…
STEP 1. You Will Need: / Some Florist Wire / Green Self Sealing Florist Tape / Dried Flowers (you could also use artificial ones!) / Feathers /
STEP 2. To create the crown frame: Wind two ends of florist wire together until they are secure. Check to see if the full length of wire fits around your head, add another piece of wire to the end of the length if needed.
STEP 3. Curve one end of the wire back around itself to form a loop (this is for the fastening).
STEP 4. Twist part of a piece of florist wire around your first dried flower. We’ve used slightly thinner wire when making ours but any thickness will do.
STEP 5. Use the remaining length of the wire to wrap around the stem of the flower and crown frame to secure the flower in place.
STEP 6. Keep tying your flowers & feathers along the length of the crown frame until the length is almost used up (leave some space at the end to create a hook for the fastening). Alternate the colours, types and sizes of the flowers and feathers to create a natural & pretty mix.
STEP 7. Create a curved hook at the other end of the crown in the same way as you created the loop (by twisting the wire back on itself).
STEP 8. Use the green self sealing florist tape to neaten up the crown frame. It should start sticking to itself from the heat of your hands. Wrap it around the whole length of the garland to hide any visible wire. We cut ours into small lengths to make it more manageable.
STEP 9. And there you go, a pretty flower & feather crown!”
How gorgeous is that crown?! We love it so much and can’t wait to get to work making our own! Be sure to head over to Curious Fair’s website for much more hand crafted wedding prettiness!
Much Bespoke Love
