Gosh is it me or does there seem to be flurry in the number of totally awesome alternative weddings fairs that are happening around the country right now? It is so exciting to see the wedding industry evolving! No longer are your choices limited by your location, something that those of you that live in small towns such as ours will completely understand. I am psyched that no matter where you are in the UK you can guarantee that there will be a wedding fair that celebrates all things unique coming near you.
The Quaint Queer Weird Alternative Wedding Fair celebrates everything alternative, retro, LGBT and funky Vintage in the wedding world. This year the 18+ event is themed ‘Bygone to Bondage’, with alternative and daring suppliers displaying their stunning and most unusual wedding fashion, accessories, photography, cakes and much more.

Organiser Lesley Taylor told us “The first Quaint Queer Weird was held at Proud Cabaret in Kempton, and was so well received, the varied folk of Brighton and the surrounding areas really appreciated such an alternative wedding fair. We definitely have a winning formula so I decided to move the next fair to a central Brighton location. The Corn Exchange is a magnificent venue and this year we have decided to quadruple our exhibitor space.”
Known well for the entertainment throughout the day, this year will include burlesque dancing and risqué entertainment which will not fail to impress. This year the fair will be joined by two incredible artists, Hollie Shannon from Skin Candy Tattoo Studio, who will be tattooing throughout the day and world class Body Painter – Victoria Gugenheim a genderqueer, bisexual, joint world award winning body artist, wanting to spread awareness of LGBT people and promote their acceptance throughout the world. Victoria regularly campaigns for human rights, using body art as a way to immediately spread awareness through the human form. During the Quaint Queer Weird alternative wedding fair, Victoria will be transforming a local drag queen into a work of art.
That is something I really wish I could be there to see!
Designers will include some of our favourites such as Victorian Gothic, Oh My Honey and Crown and Glory, who is also a sponsor of the show. Other notable exhibitors will include Brighton’s sexiest hotel – See Saw Sea, magic and oddities from Leon Simmonds and Humphrey – the VW Party Bus. There is also the chance to win a VIP package for the day and a share of the ‘Prize Bonanza’ which every one of the exhibitors donates a prize to.
You have to be in it to win it guys!
