“Over the Rainbow” – A Wizard of Oz Styled Shoot
This morning we are transporting you to a magical land, we will take you on your way down a yellow brick road to a vibrant place known as the Emerald city. All you will need is your red ruby slippers, your little dog Toto and help from a few friends along the way. Does anyone know which famous story I am talking about yet?
This creative shoot was designed by Elegance & Grace Weddings who has done the most fantastic job of capturing one of my all time favourite movies.
The details are fantastic with little fun cakes placed on yellow brick mats with rainbow candy, the most gorgeous colourful floral arch and the most elegant and classy Emerald City I have ever seen in a styled shoot. The stylists have really paid attention to every detail, even using both black and white and colour film as does the movie.
Photography by Linda did a fantastic job of capturing the shoot, here she is to tell us more…
The Wizard of Oz is a movie that has been a part of peoples lives and living rooms for many years. The movie displays not only black and white, but also captures vivid color from the yellow brick road to the Emerald City. The movie “Oz The Great and Powerful” created a modern twist on an old classic. With emerald being a consistent color for designers this year, and Oz being an ever popular event theme, Elegance & Grace Weddings produced and designed a stylized photo shoot that not only reflected the many elements of the movie, but recalled the story of Oz: from the black and white beginnings to the vibrant color transition in the middle, and most notably, Dorothy’s ruby red slippers.
The “Over the rainbow” theme for this side of the shoot was born with color being the inspiration – taking the flowers of many colors and create a garden full of life complete with an “over the rainbow” floral arch. The outdoor setting featured many beautiful bright colored flowers in shades of red, yellow and blue.
The second phase of the shoot used inspiration from the black and white aspects of the movie as well as emerald city to create an atmosphere that embodied a sexy and sultry look within the castle walls. The tables were adorned with variations of emerald and gold tones and the walls included green uplighting. These colors come together to create a sophisticated and elegant “emerald city” look.
The design concept of this photo shoot was to include emeralds, golds and reds which are fantastic fall colors in combination with the Oz theme. If a thematic, colorful, and not to mention ruby red wedding is what you dream, this shoot presents you with the creative elements that are easily attainable to adorn your wedding day!
