DIY: Three Fun Ways to Decorate Easter Eggs
Yay its Easter! This has to be one of my favourite times of year because it is acceptable to indulge in lots of chocolate! (Not that I need much of an excuse mind you?) Anywho it is also a great excuse to get a little crafty so we have invited our favourite stylists Sophie & Laura from Strange Case Collective to show you how you can get creative with some polystyrene easter eggs… This is one for you if you are especially fond of glitter, wool and washi tape, basically it has us written all over it…
Over to the ‘Strange Girls’ – they will love me for that!
“One of our favourite times of the year is Easter. One for the chocolate (of course, we’re already dreading crème eggs not being in the shop!) and two as it gives us an excuse to get crafty. Every year we organise an egg hunt and this year we are having one for our 18 month old cousin Sadie. Alongside chicks and eggs for her to find, we wanted to have a go at decorating some polystyrene eggs for her to fill her basket with too. So for this months guest post, we are showing you three different ways to decorate polystyrene eggs.
You will need the following materials for all three versions – Polystyrene eggs// PVA Glue // Barbecue skewers // A plastic dish for glitter and glue. Or a plate covered in foil – we couldn’t find a container anywhere and improvised // Egg carton for presentation – this is totally optional but we couldn’t resist buying it from our local craft shop // Paintbrush// Glitter // Wool // Washi Tape// Scissors //
To Decorate Your Eggs With Glitter…
We are noticing glitter is a common theme in all of our DIY posts, but we are suckers for the stuff!
Step 1: Insert the skewer into the base of the egg. This makes it easier to handle the egg and stops you from getting glue and glitter everywhere.
Step 2: Using a paintbrush, add a light coat of PVA all over your egg.
Step 3: Pour a small amount of glitter onto your plate or bowl. We used one tube of glitter and mixed gold and silver together. This is where you can get creative and use any colour you like.
Step 4: Holding the end of your skewer, roll the egg in the glitter until the egg is completely covered.
Step 5: Place your skewer into something secure, so your egg can dry. We put ours inside a tub full of beads.
To Decorate Your Eggs with Wool…
Step 1: Insert the skewer into the base of the egg.
Step 2: Using a paintbrush, add a light coat of PVA all over your egg.
Step 3: Starting at the top of the egg and in the centre, start to spiral your wool around the egg.
Step 4: Carry on until your wool reaches the bottom – This can be a little fiddly and you may need to hold the wool in place as you are winding it around.
Step 5: Snip the end when you’re finished.
Step 6: Place your skewer into something secure, so your egg can dry.
To Decorate Your Eggs With Washi Tape…
Like glitter, washi tape is something we find hard to just walk past in a shop. We have so many rolls and use it for a lot, so we couldn’t resist decorating an egg with some.
Step 1: Insert the skewer into the base of the egg.
Step 2: Tear or cut off small strips of washi tape.
Step 3: start to cover the egg.
Step 4: Carry on doing this until the egg is completely covered.
This one is the most simple and would be great to get the kids involved with. Especially as it’s mess free. Anything with no glue is always a bonus for us when crafting with children.
When all of your eggs have dried, simply pop them off the skewers and use them as you wish.
If you are stuck for ideas with what to do with your newly decorated eggs how about using them as a table decoration, adding them to floral arrangement or even use them in an egg hunt, like we are.”
We would love to see your easter egg designs so be sure to Instagram them and use #bespokebride. How cute would these be if you were having an easter wedding? They would make great table decorations!
Much Bespoke Love

Those wooly easter eggs are my favourite, going to try these out when babysitting next week!
