5 Must Have Photography Apps!
Happy bank holiday Monday you gorgeous lot! What are you up to on this glorious day? Whether you’re cuddled up in bed watching old movies or enjoying a nice walk in your local area, whatever it is you’re doing, we’re pretty sure it’s photo worthy and luckily for you Craig Dearsley is back today to share with you his 5 must have photography apps! So grab your phone, get downloading & start capturing some memories! Over to you Craig…
We carry a camera everywhere in our pocket, we take pictures of everything, and now there are so many smart phone apps available for tweaking, altering and sharing your pictures, it’s so easy to make your photos a little more interesting. Here are my top 5 must have photography apps for your phone.
Instagram is the market leader in photo and now video sharing. You can import your media or take a picture/video within the app, slap a filter on it, add a frame and share it with your friends. The beauty of it is, even if your friends are not yet on Instagram you can share your stuff on facebook and twitter. Instagram has a fairly large selection of options to make adjustments to your images, I personally am not a massive fan of the filters and the fact that it crops your pictures to fit them in, but there is a way around both of these issues. I use VSCO Cam filters (more about that below) and there is an app called ‘no crop’ which sorts out the cropping issue. The other great thing about Instagram is getting your images printed. There are a few companies that will print all your Instagram images on little cards, these make great collages.
VSCO Cam is where all the cool kids on Instagram get there beautiful filters. VSCO are famous in the professional market for their pre-sets and hot keys, you only have to go on their website to see just how good they are (https://vsco.co/). On the VSCO Cam app, you can import pictures or take a picture within the app and apply filters & adjustments; you can then send it over to Instagram, Facebook, and twitter and post it on your feed. I use VSCO filters on most of the iphone images that I share, because they just seem that much more beautiful.
A Beautiful Mess
You may have heard of A Beautiful Mess blog, if not, where have you been?? A beautiful Mess is a very fun, creative lifestyle blog packed with advice and DIY projects, you have to check it out if you haven’t already (https://www.abeautifulmess.com/). The app is a photo sharing platform which allows you to add filters to your pictures, much like the others, but you can also include fun fonts and doodles on top of the image. Again like the others, you can share the image on all the social networks.
Photo Collage
There are a few collage apps on the market, but I just use a very simple one called Photo Collage Free. As you can tell by the name, it’s a way to collage multiple pictures together and it’s free! You can select from a few variations of collage, you can change the sizes of the boxes and pictures, you can also do small adjustments and add frames. It’s a great way to tell a little story with pictures and share it on your favourite social network feeds.
See Craig’s video using the 8mm camera app here!
Ok not so much photography, but this is a really fun app if you like vintage videography. You can shoot a clip from within the app or import a video clip and simply choose from the pre-set filters and the added bonus is, you can add music from your within your phone, very cool. You can make your videos look like super old videos with lots of noise and even film flicker. I am a massive fan of super 8 film, so this app is one of my favourites – definitely worth a try.
