Bottle Bazaar Loves You! Create Your Very Own Customised Wine Labels
Bottle Bazaar certainly knows how to get a girls attention when they sent me an email at 4:30pm on a Monday afternoon titled ‘Do You Like Wine?’. You can imagine my joy when I found out that they wanted to send me a bottle of my choosing with my very own personalised label. It was if the universe had read my mind and had decided I was in dire need of a pick me up if I was ever going to get through the rest of the week.
Now I’m not much of a drinker but when I do, my drink of poison has to be a nice cold glass of Rose wine and if I can find one with a bit of a fizz to it even better. When I explained this to India from Bottle Bazaar she seemed to know instantly what would tickle my taste buds and within days I was sat with Jess getting ready for a night on the tiles, with my glass of sparkling rose Spumante in one hand and admiring the beautiful personalised label on the bottle with the other.
We were discussing how rare it is to see a personalised label as unique as this one. Often you will find them personalised with the couples name and date of the wedding or a little message but the artwork on these bottles is absolutely astounding and that is because these labels are totally bespoke. Customers can actually commission a design by one of their artists, thereby getting a label that is 100% unique to them and can match with the colour scheme or event theme.
Here is India to tell you more…
Tell us about Bottle Bazaar…
Bottle Bazaar supplies personalised wines. That’s wines with personalised labels. We work with various talented artists and designers to produce label designs suitable for all occasions. The text can be adapted by the customer and the labels can be applied to any of the wines in our portfolio. As my background is in the wine trade we’ve been able to pick out some really great wines and for larger orders, we can also source wines from our network of suppliers which is great if there’s something you want that we don’t already have. We have designs suitable for engagement dinners, hen parties and weddings including table numbers, thank you gifts and favours. We recently added a special magnums of Bordeaux and Rioja to our collection that would make fantastic gifts for the best man or father of the bride. Our miniature bottles of spirits, wine and Champagne would also make great favours if you really wanted to treat your guests!
How Did You Begin?
I’d been working in the wine trade for 8 years, selling wine to some of the top restaurants, hotels and gastropubs in London and wanted to do something a bit different. I’d had various thoughts of starting my own business and have always been creative in my spare time so I started to think about how I could combine my two passions. It was a combination of lots of small thoughts and ideas really: I thought it was a shame that the majority of wines on the shelves in the UK have such dull labels and wanted to change that, I loved wine and didn’t want to leave the wine trade, I love design in all its forms – art, stationery, furniture, clothing you name it so wanted to involve my creative side and I had so much fun planning my own wedding I wanted to be involved in the wedding industry too – I just didn’t want to stop reading all the wedding blogs and magazines!
Since then we have had some great press and are really proud to have been featured in The Guardian, Metro & Grazia to name a few.
Tell us more about the process of customising your own label?
Our website hosts a whole library of label designs, where you can choose youre favourite. There’s a wedding section but it’s worth looking in the other categories too as some are just generally pretty and you might like those too! All the text can be edited to say whatever you like, this could be the names of the bride and groom, their wedding date and a message and can be as much or as little as you like – but be aware if you want a really long message it will affect the overall look! All the designs are then personalised by a real human being – usually me! – so we can adapt the font sizes and move the placement around to make sure it says exactly what you want. We think its nice to be able to have a person creating your label as opposed to it being automatically generated by computer as this way you know its going to look perfect – and isn’t that what you want on your big day!
We also provide a totally bespoke service where the customer can commission a design by one of our artists, thereby getting a label that is 100% unique to them and can match with their colour scheme or theme. This process takes a bit longer but you get to tell the artist exactly what you want and they will bring it to life.
Can you help couples choose a wine to suit that tastes?
We have real tasting notes on our website – by real I mean we talk about the wines in language we hope people will understand. We’re well aware that there’s a lot of wine terms that at best don’t mean a lot to people and at worst are quite off-putting. We’ll tell you what the wine tastes and smells like without confusing you with terms like austere or talking about structure and tannins – unless of course you want us to and we are happy to explain and ramble on and on!
We will be attending a few wedding fairs this year where we’ll be opening our wines for everyone to taste too – the next one is Tie The Knot Wedding Carnival in Hertfordshire on 11th May. We love to talk about the wines so come over and tell us what you like, don’t like, try something new and ask us questions! You can also email or call and chat to us about what you want for your wedding. If it’s something we don’t have in stock we’ll try to source it for you. Also if you are in Kent and want to visit us and talk through your choices and try a couple we’re happy to do that too!
Final question…. What would be your favourite tipple from your selection?
I honestly do love them all, but my favourite changes all the time depending on my mood! At the moment I think it might be the Moscato d’Asti because I’ve been in a fun, sociable, playful mood and its such a fun wine – lightly sparkling, a little bit sweet and far too easy to drink!
I can honestly say that sparkling Rose Spumante was the best wine I have ever had so I would 100% trust India to pick my wine for me again. Not only that the label was so lovely I couldn’t bear to throw the bottle away and so now it is a vase for my favourite flowers! India’s next challenge will be to find a bottle for Jess, now she doesn’t like wine so that will be the real tester 🙂
So there you have it, no more excuses for dull wine bottles at your wedding go and check out Bottle Bazaar NOW!
Much Bespoke Love
