A Yellow, Bird & Asian Inspired Wedding – Emma & Rex

Naturally when you have a love for birds, it’s a great idea to incorporate that into your wedding day, not only does it show off a little personality but it also brings the celebration to life in more! Emma & Rex loved nature and birds so much so that they created their tables names based up on them, had a cake themed on a bird cage and even gave their guests matching “love birds” salt and pepper shakers! “Emma and Rex are the kind of couple who’s love and affection for each other spreads like wildfire, their wedding was incredible to photograph for this reason – their warmth just spread to everyone. I had the pleasure of meeting Emma and another wedding a year prior and she is one of the happiest souls I know, therefore it was only appropriate that her wedding theme colour was yellow! They married on a hot february day on the east coast of Auckland in New Zealand. The stunning Zen gardens was their venue, acres of beautifully manicured Japanese and asian inspired gardens filled with statues and water features. Set up to also be a retreat hidden away in nature it is the ideal venue for a Wedding.

Yellow as mentioned was their colour of choice and the bridesmaids wore stunning yellow chiffon full length gowns and bouquets of sunflowers. Birds are also another love of the couples so they were also integral in the theme with gorgeous wooden bird cages, a stunning bird cage themed cake and table names after some of their favourite avian friends! My favourite would be the favours, matching “love birds” salt and pepper shakers for each and every guest.

An afternoon ceremony was followed by drinks, canapés and lawn games including giant chess and petanque while guests wandered the stunning grounds. Truly an unforgettable day.”

I have to admit, I’m completely head over heels for the continuos bird theme throughout the day too! Such a pretty and personal touch to Emma & Rex’s special day!
