Nail Polish Marble Effect Favour Pots
Hello Lovelies, I hope you all have lots of wonderful plans for the weekend. For those of you at a loose end I have a fun, colourful and very quick DIY for you to try. I have been meaning to sort through my old nail varnish for months now. There is nothing worse than using them when they have become old and lumpy. Whenever I can, I will always try to find another use for something before I trash it, not wanting to throw so many pots of nail varnish away, I have been trying to think of ways to use them, so this project was perfect!
You Will Need: Mini plant pots (These were from Ikea)// Nail polish (I used 3-4 old bottles)// Bucket of water//
Step 1: Half fill your bucket with water.
Step 2: Pour in your nail varnish, letting it spread across the top of the water. Give it a little mix or shake to blend the colours.
Step 3: Dip your pot in the water, leaving the ridge free.
Step 4: Leave to dry for an 1-2 hours.
I absolutely loved revealing the pattern on the pots as each one was always different. We decided to use ours for flowers but these would be awesome for succulents too don’t you think?
As many of you will already know we have recently been voted for ‘Best DIY Wedding Blog’ in the Wedding Blog Awards. I love this idea! Need to try it!
What a fun idea! These look great 🙂
Wondering if you think this is possible with different kinds of paint-like acrylics? I have a whole bunch already and wonder about using them instead of nail polish.
Hi Tammy! You sure can do the exact same thing with Acrylics. Would love to see what you do! xxx
Hi Emily,
I did a test on this with nail polish and it came out totally clumpy. Do you know what I might have done wrong?
Hi Tammy! I think you might have used too much nail polish? You only need enough to cover the surface of the water and make sure you use a toothpick or something similar to spread the polish around evenly? Let me know how you get on 🙂

Your pots are gorgeous! After they dried, did you seal them –like with an Mod Podge’s acrylic spray?
Hi Lisa
Thank you for your kind words! No we didn’t seal them and they have been fine no chipping or anything 🙂
Hope that helps xxx
I dipped two cups bought at the Goodwill. A few places are clumpy or had tiny air bubbles.Overall they were OK. I didn’t use as much polish ad you did. Next time I will. Did you put your pots in water?
Can you do this on glass
