They Got by with a Little Help From Their Friends (and Family!) – Naomi & Jack
Jack and Naomi shared a love of two things; the outdoors and partying, so when it came to planning their wedding day they just knew the most important thing was to do the things they loved, with the people they loved which resulted in plenty of partying in a field with beautiful yurts and friends playing the guitar. Oh and the bride arrived in a tractor! AMAZING! What makes this wedding even more special though is that most of it was put together by their family and friends! Over to Naomi to tell you more…
“Since Jack and I met nine years ago we have shared a love of two things; partying and the outdoors. We had no particular theme for our wedding day, we just wanted to do the things we love, with the people we love. So, we had a party in a field.
Luckily, the people we love got onboard with our plan straight away and offered us loads of help. The whole day was very much down to them.
My wonderful Godparents offered us their fields as a venue. My (farmer) Dad drove me to the venue in his tractor (which took him and his partner 25 hours to get wedding-ready!) where we walked down the aisle to the dreamy sounds of our friend Yasmin playing guitar. The cake was made by our friend Camila, with a topper made by our illustrator friend Caitlin. The yurt and marquees were set up by our bridesmaids, groomsmen and parents the week before. After dinner we went back to the yurt where Jack’s brother Ben and our friend Will DJed and kept us dancing till 5am. (when the police arrived to see what all the noise was…)
And then there was my dress and those beautiful flowers. I knew exactly how I wanted my dress to look, and it didn’t exist in any bridal shops. So my Mum got out her sewing machine and made it for me! Although it is now covered in mud and red wine, I will treasure it forever.
We had much less of a clue how to choose the flowers. They were entirely the work of Jack’s Mum and his eldest sister. Somehow, with hardly any brief from us, they created the most perfect displays.
The best part of our wedding day was definitely saying our vows and promises to each other. But it was also watching all our family and friends coming together to make it possible for us. There was something really special about celebrating with all the people we love, after so much hard work together. Without them, the day really wouldn’t have been the same.”
