DIY Apple & Blackberry Muffin Favours
Giving the gift of food is a brilliant idea for favours and not only will your guests thank you but their tummies will too! Since we’re now officially in Autumn it only felt natural to start creating some autumnal DIYs and living in the Forest Of Dean means that right now, we’re surrounded by tons of fresh blackberries all ready for the picking! So after a leisurely stroll around our local area we ended up with a bowl full of berries perfect for baking! To make these delicious muffins all you’ll need is:
150g Black berries // 2 cooking apples // 200g plain flour // 1 egg // 2 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder // 75g butter // 150ml milk // 150g caster sugar // 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence // 1 pinch of cinnamon // Cupcake baking tray // pretty cupcake or muffin liners! (Ours were from Tesco!) //
Ready? Let’s get started!
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 190c / Gas mark 5.
Step 2: Line your baking tray with those pretty cupcake liners of yours!
Step 3: Sift together the flour and baking powder.
Step 4: Melt your butter, then allow to cool slightly. Next whisk together the butter with the egg, the caster sugar & the vanilla essence.
Step 5: Peel and shred your apples then add to your butter mix. You’ll also want to add in the blackberries and milk at this point too! Optional: Leave out 12 blackberries so you can press them into the top of your muffins before they go in the oven!
Step 6: Next, quickly fold in the baking powder, flour and cinnamon.
Step 7: Spoon your mixture into your cupcake liners evenly then place a single blackberry on top of each one!
Step 8: Bake in the oven for 25 – 30 minutes.
Step 9: Finally take out of the oven and let cool on a wire rack!
We think these would make awesome favours for your guest to take home, you could pop two into a cute little bag and seal it with a ribbon!
Tell me, what’s your favourite Autumnal recipe?
Much Bespoke Love
