A Fierce, Edgy American Styled Editorial
Would you believe me if I told you that this shoot was actually held in York and not America! I mean it looks like a typical US dragway complete with retro gas pump and classic American cars, right? Well I promise your eyes are not deceiving you guys, this shoot is pretty much as Stateside as it gets, without the States, alright you get it!
Here is stylist Kirstin to tell us all about her inspiration for this fashion forward editorial…
“Lissa Alexandra and I were inspired by the Prada SS12 campaign, it was fierce, fashion with a classic American theme running through it, so we decided to style a similar type of shoot only this time with an alternative look and tonnes of edge.
As my husband and I own vintage American cars, we thought it would be fitting to get them on a real track so we used York Dragway, its authenticity really made us feel like we were shooting in America. The 1973 Oldsmobile Custom cruiser and 1970 Buick Electra American classics make for the coolest bridal transport too. Who wouldn’t want to burn some rubber on their wedding day?!
The “Statue of Liberty” look had to be my favourite look from the shoot – it is so on theme. Kurt Geiger black and silver gem heels add some bling along with the “Elbie” gunmetal Rock n Roll Bride for Crown and Glory crown. No accessories were needed apart from the “must have” crown for this edgy high fashion look. This would be a seriously fierce wedding outfit to be worn by the bride or bridesmaids.
I really loved the simplicity of the sexy one sleeve maxi dress by Asos, a simple version of a wedding gown. This would be a great look for the fashion forward lady who likes to wear statement accessories. You can really accessorize this no fuss dress up, we chose a super sparkly “Intergalactic Startlight” crown by Crown and Glory, the stars matched the American theme along with some statement OTT high heeled American flag shoe boots.
For our pretty look, we chose a vintage dress and petticoat from Glory Days Vintage. The dress was extremely gorgeous and we completed the look with a statement gold and silver necklace by Pree Brulee an American brand popular with celebrities for its statement jewellery pieces and some gold heels.”
