For. Like. Ever! A Colourful Geometric Wedding in LA: Marie & Garth
It is no secret that we are little obsessed with colour and geometric prints here at Bespoke Bride so when we were sent Marie and Garths chic LA wedding full of colour and Geometric sculptures, you can imagine our excitement. It was as though Bespoke Bride had been brought to life in a real life wedding!
It was love at first sight 12 years ago when Marie and Garth first met and they’ve been happily paired up ever since, making their home in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles, where they decided to make it official choosing a new, hip, local venue, The Fig House. Marie’s love of mod geometric shapes was showcased beautifully in her beaded Mara Hoffman gown and was mirrored in the brightly stained-glass windows and custom invitations as well as handcrafted geo shapes used to create tablescapes along with bright succulent gardens. An art print with the words ‘For.Like.Ever’ hangs in Marie and Garth’s home, and it naturally evolved to become their personal mantra for the wedding. It was used in their invitation wording, wedding website and mirrored cake topper. The cake was made by the mother of the groom, who transported the cakes (unfrosted!) and all of her cake decorating tools from the Pacific Northwest. Watching her put the finishing touches on the cake as guests began to arrive is one of my all time favorite wedding moments. It was real life performance art–so moving and sweet and an expression of her love for her son and soon-to-be daughter in law.
We asked Marie to tell us more…
“We loved everything about our wedding day (although at the beginning we weren’t even sure that we wanted a wedding–we just wanted to be married!). But after having been together for almost 10 years, we both wanted to mark the beginning of this next phase of our lives surrounded by our favorite people. We approached the day by choosing to focus on how we wanted to feel that day, and went from there. Luckily, many of the details fell into place: I ordered the first dress I loved online; Garth’s mother baked the cake; Natali is a long time friend of my sister-in-law; Danielle is a childhood best friend of a friend of my maid of honor; and the brand new, stunning Fig House, is a 5-minute drive from our Mt. Washington home.
Our friend and officiant JP said something early on that resonated with both of us about marriage being like a casserole. Only the people who make it really know what goes into it; everyone else just knows how it looks and tastes. And in a lot of ways, our wedding day was like that. While many of the ingredients (the food! the succulents! the amazing mariachi trio!) created an incredible ambiance, most importantly was that we worked with great people, we had a great party, and at the end of the day we were off to an amazing start in the next chapter of our lives together.”
