DIY MEXICAN INSPIRED NECKLACE…WITH TASSELS!
Can you believe today is the last DIY of our ‘Month of Mexican Fiesta’ tutorials?! Seriously, have fast did that month go? We couldn’t resist leaving this theme on a high with a super fun and stylish Mexican inspired necklace! This can obviously be created in any colour scheme you like but you guys know how much we love bright pinks and vibrant yellows…
YOU WILL NEED:
Balsa Wood // Spray paint // Craft gems // Glue Gun // Yarn in a variety of colours // Cricut // Cricut sharp blade // Extra sticky matt // This free design //
STEP 1:
Upload the above template to your Cricut Design Space and place your balsa wood on your extra sticky matt. You’ll need to set your Cricut to cut out at a custom setting using a deep blade for this project! We set the pressure to 200 points and a multi cut of 3.
STEP 2:
Let your Cricut do the cutting then once it’s done, gently pop out your design from the rest of the wood. Don’t worry if your Cricut has left track marks on the wood, we’re going to flip the necklace over and work on the other side anyway.
STEP 3:
Spray paint your necklace the colour of your choice!
STEP 4:
Next you’ll need to make your tassels with your yarn, for the tutorial on how to create them see here! Once you’ve made 7 small ones simple thread one piece of yarn through a hole and tie the tassel to the necklace! Repeat with the other 6 leaving the top two holes free.
STEP 5:
Get your glue gun and start to glue on your gems in whatever pattern you like! Try to cover as much of the wood as possible.
STEP 6:
Take two pieces of your rubbing and tie each of them to the two remaining holes so that you can easily tie the necklace.
And that’s it my friend! You are done!! We think this is the perfect accessory for the summer and wouldn’t they just look ace on a set of bridesmaids?! xx
