Bright Lights and Big Rides: How to Plan a Luna Park Wedding That’s Full of Colour and Fun!

Can I tell you something…I’ve never been to New York. Despite dreaming about it for a VERY long time (Basically since Friends hit our screens) it’s always been on my must visit places, so you can imaging my excitement when this little beaut of a styled shoot dropped into our inbox! Cue the yellow cabs!
ABOUT THE SHOOT…
“New York City has a lot of artistic landscape when planning a wedding, but it often comes with a high price. I wanted to showcase that even in this expensive city, you can create a beautiful and fun wedding without spending your entire savings account. Gran Electrica provided a unique venue that has various event options that can work within your budget.
The edgy wallpaper and unique outdoor space gave us great inspiration to work off of, which we splashed up with vibrant red, pinks, purples, and accents of blues. The tablescape, dessert bar, and vintage taxi from Checker Cab NYC played well with the retro elements of the venue.Decor is a perfect area to try and cut spending when trying to plan a wedding on a budget. Bride & Blossom provided lush florals that had a modern but retro feel with lush peonies. These florists really know how to make your floral budget go that extra mile without breaking the bank. In order to be budget savvy, we replaced typical place cards with Corkbud’s place cards that doubled as favors.
We also incorporated DIY elements that modernized the space while providing a city feel. The table numbers and dessert bar signs were made from strips of old magazines collaged together. We also used the magazine pages to create paper fans strung together as drapes that would help create a focal point for the altar. To avoid the cost of an expensive wedding cake, we swapped in a dessert bar that featured DIY desserts: a tiered oreo “birthday cake” wedding cake, jars filled with candy, and individual mason jars filled with confetti cake topped with icing and rainbow sprinkles!
On top of all of that, all the dresses in the shoot are 2-in-1 reversible dresses so that the money spent on the wedding apparel would go way beyond the wedding day! Cassi Claire, our amazing photographer, and Katie Arbore, our talented hair and make up artist, not only created amazing looks for the inspired wedding day, but they were able to showcase how the dresses could easily be worn for a night out with the girls!?”
