COMIC BOOK FANS WILL LOVE THIS ENGAGEMENT SESSION
For newly engaged couple Bern and Kate, picking their local comic store for their engagement photos was truly a reflection of the interests that brought the couple together in the first place.
“We actually met on Tinder, and the photo that made Bern stop on my profile was one of me in a homemade space suit on Halloween; my love of science fiction, comics and DIY was something that we connected on right away.” Kate told us.
“Some of our first dates were actually at Isotope Comics, where we would walk around for hours pulling comics off the shelves, discussing our favorites, debating which movie adaptations we liked best, and getting recommendations from the owner. We still visit regularly to pick up our pre-orders and find new selections to add to our now one big household comic and graphic novel collection.”
“I really was not the kind of person who imagined having engagement photos, and was afraid taking them would be really awkward.” Kate explained.
“So when it came time to pick out a spot, we followed some advice we received to just try and do the things you normally do together for your photos so you don’t really need to pose too much or over think it. Needless to say Bern and I don’t spend much time laying in a field gazing at each other, or popping out from behind tree trunks while making hearts with our hands. Instead, being at Isotope flipping through comics felt much more natural for us, and so did our usual stop for fancy treats afterwards at nearby candy-colored confectionary shop Miette. With the help of Megan’s keen eye for capturing the details and color of both of these spaces, I think the joy that these places bring us and the fun we have together really comes through the images.”
