DIY OMBRE CANDLE FAVOURS (AKA THE EASIEST HOMEMADE GIFT EVER!)
You may remember a couple of weeks ago we were sent a box of goodies from the paint heaven company that is rustoleum? We were challenged to upcycle something and in case you missed it you can check out how we upgraded a bunch of teapots here! As you can imagine though with a box of amazing paints lying around my house it wasn’t long until I got itchy feet and had to dive straight back into the package!
I headed to a local gift shop and bought a bunch of plain white taper candles (they were only 70p each!) and thought it would be fun to create an ombre effect on them using the multi purpose spray paint in candy pink! I think these would make beautiful favours for a wedding or even gifts for your bridesmaids and obviously at a bargain price! Here’s how you can make your own:
YOU WILL NEED:
White taper candles // spray paint in the colour of your choice // glasses (for drying) //
STEP 1:
Holding the top of the candle, simply spray paint the bottom of the candle creating an ombre effect.
STEP 2:
Pop the candle in a glass, upside down and allow the paint the fully dry.
STEP 3:
If you’re giving these as a gift then tie two together with a little twine, string or ribbon and voila! One gift done!
These would obviously look awesome in candle holders as part of the wedding table decor too if you can’t bare to part with them! 😉 xxx
Wow… This is amazing and looking beautiful. Nothing can be better than a handmade gift. I loved the combination of white and pink color. Thanks for sharing!
We absolutely adore these, a nice personal touch and do pretty and quirky!
Lovely blog post! Is the spray paint flammable once it is dry or is it safe to burn the candles? Thankyou!
Hi Anna,
As far as I’m aware once it”s dried, the paint’s flammable qualities have dissipated. But I would double check the can of whichever spray paint you’re using just to be safe 🙂
