THIS BRIDE SHARES HOW SHE TURNED HER WEDDING DISASTER INTO A DREAM COME TRUE!
Today’s real wedding looks like it could have easily been a styled shoot but trust me once you’ve read this real brides story you will wonder how on earth she managed to pull of something so incredibly beautiful, after the drama that had previously unfolded.
“Rob and I met in the hustle and bustle of NYC. We both worked downtown. Me in Tribeca, and him in the Financial District. Shortly after relocating to Raleigh NC in 2014 he proposed! ” Began Nicole.
“Having spent years planning events (including weddings!) in both NYC and Raleigh, I knew immediately I wanted a very small, intimate destination wedding. Everything was booked, invites were out, and we were ready to marry July 2017 in Mexico. Then the Zika Virus hit and, for many personal reasons, we quickly decided to cancel the wedding less than 5 months before we said I do. ”
“I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and getting married in Raleigh was actually a dream come true. Every vendor stepped up to the plate and really gave us the wedding of our dreams. I knew immediately I wanted to get married at Merrimon-Wynne House (a charming restored historic southern home) and when they had the exact date available we were going to get married in Mexico, I knew it was fate.” She explained.
“I worked closely with a designer to take my mother’s wedding dress and re-design an entire new look: something long for the ceremony that would transform into something short for dancing at the reception!”
“We wanted the whole wedding to feel fun and relaxed. We didn’t want a ton of structure so my bridesmaids wore sundresses from Lulu’s and Rob’s groomsmen were instructed to just wear grey pants and a white shirt. It was important to us that people focused on the fun of the day!” She added.
“I also wanted to embrace summer in Raleigh so I told my florist to do whatever she wanted…to surprise me! I simply requested bright colors with a summertime garden feel. She delivered the most gorgeous bouquets I’ve ever seen in my life. People are still talking about those bouquets! ”
“For the food – I’m from the south but we met in NYC and both have a huge love for tacos – we incorporated a southern biscuit bar, a steak and potato station, and a taco station. I am a huge fan of sweets so I had several different cakes for dessert AND an ice cream sundae bar. ”
“It’s amazing how things don’t always happen the way you planned, but our wedding was certainly BETTER than we planned.”

Such a fun and whimsical wedding! The bright colours turn the wedding into a carnival-like theme, making it even more festival than usual. So many lovely photos of the couple captured. Another great idea is having a photo booth so that guests can capture all their special unique moments too! It would work in perfectly too with the carnival theme! It’s great the bride was able to move past the problems that arose on the day. The focus should always come back to the precious celebration of love.
