WEEKEND WEDDING PLANNING: SIMPLE
Phew what a whirl wind these past few weeks have been, filled with hen parties & weddings. I have to admit, although it has all been very exciting, I am looking forward to a much more relaxed weekend. This week was very exciting for me as I preliminarily booked my favourite videographers in the whole wide world – Costa Sister Productions to come to Mexico to film our wedding. I am so so happy as having them their to film was one of the most important things to me. Unfortunately, I am still no closer with an actual date as the Cenote where we plan to get married has a strict 3 month booking rule, so we are having to get back in touch with them in the new year. Seriously guys I am on the edge of my seat here. I just want to get a date on that calendar!
We’re still making our way around family and friends informing them of the plans for our wedding. We originally said we would only invite our parents and a close friend each as we only want a small wedding and we didn’t want to pressure anyone else to feel like they had to be there, as we aware flying all the way to Mexico is going to be very expensive. However we have already had other family members express how much they would like to celebrate with us, so our guest list has already increased, which has been a happy & meaningful surprise for us.
This weekend I am actually going to be celebrating my little brothers engagement in a local pub. I was so excited to hear that he had popped the question on their holiday in Malta, I arrived at the airport with an engagement banner and a huge smile, probably more excited about their engagement than my own. I’ve already been researching ideas for their wedding as I’ve taken it upon myself to be their planner. Well, as my own wedding planning is still kind of on hold I might as well plan someone elses, right?!
Now for some helpful wedding planning links for anyone that has a weekend packed with wedmin…
One of our reasons for wanting to get married abroad is because we wanted things to be simple. When we first got engaged and started planning, I quickly became very overwhelmed at how much there was to think about and that was mainly due to the fact we were planning a large wedding. We both have so many friends and family, I was really struggling to cope with planning something so big. I am a minimalist at heart and really wanted to strip everything back to the essentials so I really loved this Minimalist Jungle wedding for inspiration. Admittedly, this is still a little too much going on for me, but the styling is still very beautiful!
As is this Minimalist Fall at-home Inspiration…
I have been worried that people are going to find our decision to elope slightly offensive. We aren’t doing it because we want to leave people out, more because we want to focus on what we want for our wedding, not what other people think we should have, so when I came across this post on ‘How to Keep Your Family Involved When You’ve Decided to Elope’, I just had to share it! It’s got some really thoughtful ideas, I just I knew you guys would find it just as helpful!
