HOW BEAUT ARE THESE DIY SKULL ICE CUBES?!

A few weeks ago I was scrolling through instagram when I came across this incredible account from Samantha Swanson, it was filled with big beautiful glass displays and crystals that were full of fresh flowers and she had created these giant skulls that we instantly fell in love with! (By the way If you want to get your hands on any of her creations then you can visit her shop here! ) Needless to say we were inspired! And with Halloween coming up we thought we could take a spin on these big glass creations and make mini skull ice cubes instead! We filled them with edible petals so that they could be served in spooky cocktails and they came out so dam pretty! If you fancy whipping up a batch of these for your Halloween bash then here’s how…

YOU WILL NEED:

A silicone skull mould (Ours was just from Ebay) // Edible Petals // (And a freezer obvz) //

STEP 1:

Start by filling the bottom of your skull with a little water, only about 1cm’s worth. I like the look of these when the flowers are more towards the top of the skull and the bottom is just solid ice, so pop these in the freezer for a couple of hours until the water is frozen/

STEP 2:

Next, add in a few petals, and another small layer of water, then pop back in the freezer.

STEP 3:

Keep repeating this process until you have completely filled your skulls, you need to do this in stages otherwise the petals just float completely to the top of the skull and the effect just doesn’t look as good!

STEP 4:

Finally, when they’re ready, fully frozen and filled with edible petals it’s time to pop them out of the moulds and serve them in your drinks! They obviously work better in clear/lighter coloured drinks so that your guests can see the awesome skull floating around easier!
