MAKE THESE EASY CONE OMBRE CHRISTMAS TREES
I love a quick and easy DIY as much as the next gal and let me tell you, these ombre Christmas tree cones couldn’t be easier to make! They make such a statement in a festive display too and really POP! I bought the plain cones from Hobbycraft and they were only £2 each so it’s a cheap and effective way to add to your Christmas decorations as well!
YOU WILL NEED:
Plain Christmas tree cones // White spray paint // Colourful spray paint in the shades of your choice (We used berry pink, spa blue and sun yellow from Rustoleum // Gold craft paint // A small paintbrush //
STEP 1:
First you’ll want to spray paint the cones white until they’re completely covered, I did two coats just to make sure. Then allow them to fully dry.
STEP 2:
Next, it’s time to spray paint on your colours, making sure to stop before the bottom of the cone to create the ombre effect. I found it best to spray about two thirds of the cone.
STEP 3:
Repeat step 2 but only on the top third of the cones to make the colours more prominent there, again this will help to make the ombre effect stand out more. Then allow to fully dry.
STEP 4:
Now it’s time to add on the gold polka dot christmas tree lights! Take your small paintbrush, dip it in your gold paint and start to dot randomly on the cones! I found it looked best when the gold dots were clustered closely together towards the top and then spread out more sparingly the lower down the cone you got.
STEP 5:
Finally, allow the gold paint to dry and then display them somewhere pretty as part of your Christmas display! I popped mine behind a little festive village and some mini trees!
Happy Christmas crafting ya’ll! xx
I love these too! I’m not normally one for too much colour, but I’m inspired! Sue
