A CINCO DE MAYO WEDDING FIESTA
Beautiful bride Lindsey wanted her wedding reception to feel like a fun fiesta where her guests could have a blast!!
“The theme was cinco de mayo because that was the date of our wedding.” Lindsey began.
“We wanted the reception to feel like a fun fiesta with the ceremony keeping a romantic vibe outside by the water and trees. We wanted to make it feel like a wedding and we wanted our guests to feel comfortable but also to have a blast at the reception!”
“We chose vendors based on word of mouth! I knew the florist was a good choice because my best friend had a great experience with them. I knew my photographer would be perfect because I had seen her work online and loved it!!”
“We did quite a few DIY projects- the table decor was all done ourselves and the inspiration came from Pinterest. My sister made the wreath that hung behind our sweetheart table and I had seen a few pictures of a balloon garland online and decided to go for it!”
“My sister and now husband were a big help as far as listening to my ideas and providing feedback (read: affirmation)! 🙂 We were engaged for a little over 8 months but I would say the actual planning time was done over 4-5 months. I used a TON of paper lists to write down and keep track of what I needed to do, how much we needed to spend/pay for, what supplies I needed to purchase, etc. I like seeing things written down vs online and I would just continue to update and change my to do list! I broke it down by month to figure out which tasks needed to be completed each month leading up to the big day! As it got closer, I broke tasks down by the week and eventually what I needed to do each day leading up to the wedding!”
“Planning a wedding is fun but it’s not worth stressing over because the important part is every day AFTER the big day! We did a pre-marital counseling class that helped us build a foundation for our marriage and it was more exciting to focus on our marriage vs our wedding day! BUT, I have no regrets going a little over budget on the wedding because it was a BLAST!”

Ah I love all the little touches! So cute!
This is exactly the sort of wedding I’d love to shoot! I’ve developed a close up, unobtrusive style, as it were, and I think it’d suit something like this! I’ve done weddings where dogs play a major role, boho weddings and outdoor weddings, but I’d really like to do a strongly themed wedding (I’ve done a Disney one but that wasn’t the best!!)
Love this blog, and what a beautiful bride!
