DIY HULA HOOP PHOTO DISPLAY
Last weekend was one of my good friends hen parties and I honestly had such an amazing time!! A few of us girls had been planning the weekend for a couple of months and seeing everything come together was nothing short of magical! One of the things I wanted to make for the party was a photo display of Joanne with all of the girls over the years but I wanted it to be more pretty than the standard pinning photos onto a cork board display plus I know that greenery is going to be a big thing at the wedding so thought it would be cute to incorporate a touch of that into the display! Of course these displays don’t have to be just for hen parties or bridal showers, I think they would also look amazing displayed at weddings with photos of the couple throughout the years! Here’s how to make your own…
YOU WILL NEED:
- A hoola hoop
- Gold spray paint
- White ribbon
- A glue gun
- A printer
- Photo paper
- Faux green foliage
- White faux flowers
STEP 1:
The first step is to get all of your photos together, I went through Facebook to collect all the ones I wanted and asked a few of the girls to send in their favourite photos with Jo too then once I had a good collection I used photoshop to crop them all into squares and make them black and white.
STEP 2:
Next you’ll want to print off all of the photos onto photo paper, you can size them however you want but I found the best size for me with the amount of photos I had was 1.7 inches by 1.7 inches. Once you’ve done this cut them all out.
STEP 3:
Spray paint your hoola hoop(s) gold and allow to fully dry. I gave these two coats just to make sure everything was completely covered.
STEP 4:
Once they’re dry it’s time to add the ribbon, I added 7 strips and secured them to the edges of the hoop with a glue gun. I found the best way to do this was start with the centre ribbon and then a piece each side until you got to the edge of the hoop so everything was as symmetrical as possible.
STEP 5:
Next glue all of your photos onto the ribbon.
STEP 6:
Once everything was completely dry and secure I started to add the foliage. First I wrapped the thinner foliage around the edges of the hoop and secured with a little hot glue at either end, then I added the larger green leaves on top to bulk out the greenery a little.
STEP 7:
Finally, using your glue gun again, add in any white faux flowers you have! You can add as little or as many of these as you like.
Now all that’s left to do is display your photos somewhere! We hung us our using more ribbon but these just as easily prop up against something if you’d rather have them on a table! x
