MAKE THESE FUN FESTIVAL SIGNS FOR YOUR WEDDING DECOR

A few weeks ago we threw a festival themed party out our house as a joint birthday party for myself and a leaving party for my sister since she was leaving to go travelling. In true festival style I wanted to go really over the top with the decorations so we got tons of bunting, festoon lights, I painted large colourful bins (as a homage to Glastonbury!) and of course we just had to make some cute directional signs! As I was making them I thought what a fun DIY they would be for all your festival brides who are having a festival style wedding! So if you want to know how we created these then read on…

YOU WILL NEED:

Wood cut into arrow shapes (I called in a favour from my Grandad for this!)
Spray paint in a selection of colours
Craft paint in a selection of colours
Pencil
Small paintbrush
Glitter (optional)

STEP 1:

First things first, you need to get those signs looking super colourful! I spray painted each of mine a different colour so I had a selection of yellow, blue, green, gold, pink purple and orange. I did this twice so that there was a good coverage of paint on the signs.

STEP 2:

Once the paint is fully dry it’s time to map out your text! I found the best way to do this was to draw what you wanted to write on them first in pencil. I used DaFont.com to find fonts I liked and then tried to copy them as best as I could onto the sign. Of course if you really wanted to go all out you could print the fonts out and use them as stencils or even use vinyl letters to stick on the signs if you don’t feel comfortable drawing/painting freehand.

STEP 3:

Once all your pencil text is drawn onto the signs it’s time to go over them with paint! You’ll need to use your thin paintbrush for this to make sure you’ve got good control on how thin or thick you want the text to be.

STEP 4:

Finally add on a few symbols to the edges of your signs if you want to! I added a little knife and fork to the food sign, some sparkles for the glitter and bubbles for the pool sign! I also decided to add a glitter to the glitter sign too just to make it sparkle but this it totally optional!
