BRING BACK SUMMER WITH THESE TROPICAL PALM LEAF PUMPKINS
We all know that palm print was HUGE this summer, you only had to look in any shop window, online store, stationery range or interior home store to see the pretty prints filling the shelves and of course we were completely obsessed with it! So much so that we’re still clinging onto it come Halloween haha Seriously though, how CUTE do those palm print pumpkins look?! The good news is they were super easy to make as well and were done and ready to put on display in under 3 hours! PLUS no carving required at all so total bonus!
YOU WILL NEED:
- Pumpkins
- Pastel blue paint
- Pastel pink paint
- Pastel purple paint
- Green vinyl (We used three different shades, a dark green, an olive green and a light green)
- Cricut Explore
- Small mini pumpkins (Optional to add various heights to the display)
STEP 1:
Start off by painting your pumpkins with your paint, we used Rustoleum spray paint for these and I would say they needed two coats to make sure the consistency of the colour was perfect! Once you’re done allow to dry.
STEP 2:
While the paint is drying get to work on cutting out your palm leaves. We simply opened up the Cricut Design space, chose the palm leaf shapes that we liked and sized them in various sizes then hit go on that machine!
STEP 3:
Once all the leaves are cut out and the paint is completely dry on your pumpkins it’s as easy as pressing the vinyl leaves onto the pumpkins, varying the directions as you go until you’re happy with how everything looks! Note: |f you have transfer tape handy and are temped to use this to transfer the leaves to the pumpkins then don’t! The moment you pull the transfer tape away it’ll just take away some of the paint with it which is obviously not a good look!
Finally, you just need to put them on display and let those pretty pumpkins do their thing! Happy October ya’ll! xx
