THIS JEFF KOONS BALLOON DOG INSPIRATION IS THE BEST THING YOU’LL SEE TODAY
The juxtaposition of colors, textures, hard and soft edges, and shiny and matte finishes were as important to the creative team who brought this Neo-Pop and Modern Art Inspired shoot together as much as the equality of all love was.
An invite as unique as the beautiful couple set the tone for the well stylized event including a strong floral pattern for the envelope liner and backside of the invitation and mirrored cutout piece to seal it all together. (The dog cutout would later return to its owner or guest at the dinner table near each place setting.)
This urban couple wed in Brooklyn, New York at The Green Building, transforming it into a whimsical and comprehensive setting for an intimate party to celebrate their love. Any enthusiast of vibrant, late 20th century art would feel appreciative and inspired as a wedding guest here.
Alternating green grass square patches checker-boarded with circular silver mylar balloons were placed behind the couple as they exchanged black and white diamond rings during their vow exchange. The balloons cascaded off the edges of the rectangular pieces, keeping things polished yet playful.
The industrial dinner table’s white top was purposeful, allowing the art pieces to shine – whether literally, as red laser-cut mirrored dogs served as escort card bases or, subtly, as coloring book paper served as a table runner. Paintbrush stroked dinner plates in color popping hues were a true focal point of the table that tied the colors of the beautiful blossoms in a grand floral centerpiece in with the art. Colorful blue cocktails sealed the deal for a truly tasteful and inspirited evening.
The bride, Sabine, wore two looks: a silky white cowl-back gown for the ceremony and a strapless red chiffon dress for the reception. She wore Gucci glitter sneakers with her red gown and her always-popular red lips were retouched throughout their wedding, between kisses!
Madin also had two looks: they wore leather suspenders with black pants and a white shirt for the ceremony. A colorful bow tie and Neo-Pop balloon animal cufflinks tied in their wedding design elements. For the reception, they wore fashionable tailored metallic silver pants and changed into a black evening shirt.
There was an activity for guests to participate in to bring out their inner artist: to contribute to coloring in the coloring book backdrop for the art inspired cake.
The cake and dessert table harmoniously tied in many elements from the day, including brush strokes and grass piped on the three-tiered cake, to Modern Art square cookies, to Neo-Pop Art balloon animal cookies. There was even a dish of gummy candy lips for guests to enjoy!
Drink stirrers declared, “Love is Love” and the drink sign tied in the floral pattern from the invitation.
Sabine’s bridal bouquet was full of textures and warm colors, including green eucalyptus, peach sweet peas, orange and yellow oncidium orchids, light pink garden roses and a beautiful chrysanthemum among many other show-stopping flowers.
How awesome are real married couple, Sabine and Madin, for flying from Los Angeles to Brooklyn, NY to participate in this shoot. Check out more of the work they are doing in the LGBTQ community, Madin with ProjectQ and Sabine with A Tribe Called Queer.
