WES ANDERSON TRAVEL THEMED WEDDING INSPIRATION FOR THE MODERN COUPLE
I LOVE it when we receive submissions titled ‘Wes Anderson Styled Shoot’, not just because I love anything Wes Anderson but because I love how different each submission is. We’ve never in the whole 8 years we’ve been writing Bespoke Bride, been sent a Wes Anderson themed shoot that looks anything like something else we’ve featured, which really is amazing when you think about how visually distinctive his films are. So, if you’re as big a fan as I am of the iconic filmmaker or your a modern couple looking for something unique, colorful, and a little quirky, then your going to fall head over heels in love with todays inspiration.
“I wanted to emulate one of my favorite directors and a source of inspiration.” Photographer Alexis Schawallier told Bespoke Bride. “Wes Anderson is known for his use of color, symmetry, iconic locations, and quirky characters. ”
The shoot was loosely inspired by The Darjeeling Limited and was done to showcase local vendors in a simplicity that felt unique and would help others in their inspiration for their weddings or elopements. “The film is also centered around traveling, so doing as simple as possible worked best. The colors used most predominantly in the film were orange, red, blue, and green. Working in collaboration with the vendors we chose a pallet of rich greens and vibrant yellows, a simple lightly sea-foam green Alexandra Grecco gown whilst the invitations by Iris and Marie Press were embroidered and hand letter-pressed.”
The shoot took place at Hotel Trundle, a boutique hotel in Columbia, SC. “Their logo is a Unicorn and that vibe really carries through their decor and experience, the florals were a stunning fall pallet that perfectly complimented the space of Hotel” Alexis added. “Real life couples interested in recreating this idea could look for unique spaces in their own cities – book stores, art galleries, coffee shops and cool bars. Just make a mood board, ensure the colors of your florals complement the space and don’t be afraid to utilize the venue and what it already has.”
