THIS STYLED SHOOT IS TACKLING BRIDAL STEREOTYPES
When you think of a bride, what comes to mind? Like many of us you might be thinking, white wedding dress, long veil and red roses. And while your right, this is one version of what a bride might look like, there’s more.
With this in mind Designers, Eline de Visser and Elena van der Vleuten wanted to organise a styled shoot that would celebrate different ‘types’ of bride.
“We wanted to challenge just some versions of what a ‘stereotypical bride’ looks like and showcase different kinds of bride in all their strength and glory. We felt that we wanted to show the world that women are strong individuals by themselves and should embrace their diversity but also celebrate their similarities,” began Elena van der Vleuten
“The wedding industry has so many ideas for what a bride to be ‘looks like’ – boho or etheral, classical or minimal. We wanted to change that, funk it up! To show brides to be that you can have a romantic wedding with a whimsical twist or that the colour pink doesn’t automatically mean soft and ethereal,” she explained.
“We wanted to keep the make-up and hair relaxed, laid-back and low-key, with a little pop of lip colour to allow the natural beauty of the models to speak for itself,” Elena added.
“From bridal separates and bridal dresses to a sparkly jumpsuit with sexy back, we combined soft feminine elements with bold accesories. The dresses, ranged from boho to glam whilst all our models held only one beautiful flower which metaphorically says that there is strength in being vulnerable.”
