STREET ART INSPIRED WEDDING IDEAS YOU CAN TOTALLY COPY
I’m not entirely sure when I became obsessed with street art but I know that I’ve been seeking out wall murals and graffiti art for a long time now. Anytime I visit a new city or country, I’ll do a quick ‘Google Search’ to see if there’s anything nearby and if not, I secretly hope I’ll come across something by accident, which in my opinion is the best way to stumble across art – when it’s least expected. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact I live so close to Bristol where some of Banksy’s most famous pieces originated from. The anonymity, political themes and out of the box thinking really resonated with me, so I’m surprised it’s not something Mr T and I have incorporated into our own wedding day as it’s an interest we both share.
Inspiration for this Street Art Styled Shoot came from a trip to the Wynwood Walls district of Miami – an old warehouse district of town that since 2009 has become a hot spot for renowned street artists from around the world to come an express themselves with full graffiti murals. The result is a beautifully eclectic district full of bright colors and inspiring art.
“We were inspired by the art and the concept of turning something dark and run down into something bright and beautiful,” began Ashley, manager of the venue and lead designer and planner.
“The ceremony canvas, spray paint escort cards and guest book canvas were all painted by hand and could easily be done by a couple. In fact the creation of the canvas could be a great project for couple to work beforehand and have a little fun together while designing their wedding (versus the usual stress),” she added.
“To create the ceremony canvas we filled balloons with paint, hung them on the canvas and threw darts at them – talk about fun! We then added live flowers to the canvas to make it more elegant and wedding appropriate. DIY projects can same money but can also be a bonding experience for couples that can strengthen their relationships as they head into marriage.”Ashley explained.
“While brides may not want to have graffiti at their weddings, we do think that inspiration can be drawn from the bold, whimsical and fun nature of this shoot. Perhaps we can inspire brides to think outside of the box, or maybe even go a little bit outside of their comfort zones to bring in some creative and fun elements into their wedding design.”
