GROOVY NEW ORLEANS WEDDING INSPO & DECOR IDEAS
As much as we love the classic New Orleans wedding typically featuring soft tones and the traditional elements often seen in true southern weddings. As a twist on the ordinary, Amanda of Amanda Price Events and Theresa of Theresa Elizabeth Photography combined forces to create something with a little more flair – an elegant, modern New Orleans wedding with a twist.
With this, the Groovy Glamour styled shoot was conceived – inspired by their joint passion for color, glitz, glam, and the disco/70’s era. Elements from the 70’s can be found throughout the shoot – from the disco balls hidden in the ceremony floral arrangements to the Pet Rock favors for the guests (a collectible that made its debut in 1975). Other nods to the 70’s include “groovy baby” straws, Pop Rock candy, vinyl escort cards, and more!
“The colors of this shoot were important as we wanted to see a mix of soft, subtle tones mixed properly with vibrant, bold colors.” Amanda and Theresa told us.
“Our florist did an excellent job intertwining the colors to elicit the vibe we wanted to achieve. We added color in spaces we felt were important – such as the floral belt on the bride’s dress and pocket square boutonniere. The colors of the shoot were captured in everything from the mirrored silverware to the food and beverage that was created by our vendors.”
“One of our favorite aspects of the design was the silent disco scene during the reception. In New Orleans, some of our historic venues are set in residential areas with strict noise ordinances, causing the party to end early in the evening,” they explained.
“What better way to abide by a noise ordinance and continue the party!? The silent disco is the perfect way to lengthen the reception and a continue the party into the early morning – and of course there can’t be a disco themed party without some disco balls!”
“To provide depth to the dance floor space, we added mylar balloons in different shapes and sizes to the truss system to enhance the experience provided by the lighting and disco balls. We also placed disco balls and other mylar balloons subtly around the scenes to provide enough pizzazz while still keep the general aesthetic luxurious and beautiful.”
