RUGGED CALIFORNIA HIGH DESERT WEDDING INSPO
I love, love, love the fringe trend that has been predicted to take the fashion world by storm this year! The look plays a key role in the popular bohemain style we see so often on this blog and I’m so, so happy that it lives on for another year! Todays inspiration features the most coveted fringe accessory – a fringe jacket! I love how this fashion item has been incorporated into the brides style to reflect the all-American vibe of the Californian high desert – enjoy!
“One thing I love about elopements and small weddings is that the venue hunt becomes so much more accessible,” began photographer, Joleen.
“I hear so often from my couples who haven’t picked a venue yet, that they can’t find one that truly ‘feels like them’. Because of this, many eloping couples are intentionally saying no to the traditional banquet hall and choosing to find an outdoor space.” Joleen told us.
“In California, there are national forests and BLM land in abundance. It’s an explorer and adventurer’s dream. An eloping couple or a small wedding is faced with way less red tape (permits, etc) due to their small head count, and this can open the door to some truly breath-taking, one of a kind, awe-inspiring locations sometimes for FREE or less than 50 bucks.”
“If this is appealing to you as a couple, there is a trade-off, public lands are not always for the faint of heart, and there will be way less amenities (if any) than a traditional wedding venue. But with some planning you can pull together a willing and excited vendor list that will happily execute your vision!” she explained.
“This shoot was inspired by the location, BLM land in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. Although the location is sparse in vegetation the sweeping snow-capped mountains and larger than life boulders provide plenty of inspiration.”
“I chose this location because I just love exploring off the beaten path locations and I think an eloping couple would be thrilled with the view, privacy, and adventure here or at many other public lands!” Joleen added.
“The florist was able to reflect the sparse vegetation in the bouquet and ceremony site whilst the actual flowers in the arrangements are few, most of the arrangements were made from plants you would find in the high dessert.”
“The makeup artist worked magic on our ‘brides’ hair without any heated tools as there was no electricity! I especially loved this part of the prep because that’s how it is when you’re in the middle of nowhere, and our she still looked amazing.”
