DIY FLORAL ANIMAL SKULL CENTREPIECE
If you love boho themes as much as us then you’ve no doubt seen plenty of animal skulls used as decoration, whether they’re used as table centrepieces, decor on the gift table or even placed up on the wall as a statement piece, they play a staple in those desert vibes that we all know and love! Today we thought it would be fun to share a DIY showing how you can decorate these skulls with beautiful florals to really take them to the next level! We’ve used a plastic version of a skull which we ordered from Amazon and I think it’s fair to say you can’t even tell the difference between this and a real one! Here’s how to make your own…
YOU WILL NEED:
Buffalo animal Skull / Floral wire // Floral tape // Flowers and foliage of your choice //
STEP 1:
For our first step we’re going to use the floral wire to create placements for our florals around the skull. To do this you’ll want to create an open kind of weave with 2 wires, ensuring to leave gaps in between the plaits so we can easily thread flowers in. Depending on the size of your skull keep braiding until you have a plait long enough (you’ll need to be able to wrap these around the horns) or you can do what I did and create separate weaves.
STEP 2:
Next, we’re going to attach these to our skull, simply wrap and bend them around the horns until they’re sitting nice and stable.
STEP 3:
Now the fun part! It’s time to start adding those flowers! I started with my largest flowers first, placing them in different areas of the skull making sure that nothing was too symmetrical!
STEP 4:
Finally, add in the smaller flowers and foliage, slotting and threading into the gaps, again making sure there’s a good variation of height and size throughout your wires to create an interesting look.
JOB DONE! It’s so easy right?! I think these would look so beautiful on every table, or maybe just a big one on the top table! Happy crafting and If you’re after more wedding DIYs then head here! xx
