A FUN FALL FOREST WEDDING WITH ALL THE COLOUR!
Haiden and Josh have been friends for most of their lives. As destiny would have it, they fell in love and started their forever with the perfect fall wedding filled with personality and whimsy.
They choose to incorporate their favourite elements and local business into their day. From the stellar taco bar from their favourite local restaurant, Tinga Tacos, to sharing the album Josh made about their love (with Haiden’s artwork, of course) with their guests, their day was truly them!
Despite the change of season and the clouds that filled the sky, the day was full of color. Haiden is a painter and works for a local flower truck. She designed her own bright and luscious wedding bouquet along with all the floral elements. They added a bright archway to the ceremony site to warmly welcome guests to their vibrant ceremony and asked their guests to help paint a custom piece of abstract art for them.
“We chose the venue because we knew we wanted a ceremony surrounded by trees.” Haiden began.
“Working in the wedding industry, I had met Lacy Stewart who owns The Co-op with her husband and loved her down to earth and peaceful presence so, naturally it was our first and only option for the venue.”
“When it came down to choosing suppliers we chose to focus on the people behind the businesses with the bonus that they own some of our local favorites like Tinga Tacos.” Haiden told us.
“We wanted our wedding to feel relaxed and bohemian, meaning we didn’t want it to look super trendy or try hard to be something we’re not. We wanted to reflect our styles and it came out in bold pinks, oranges and greens. We focused on florals as decor but still kept things simple and colorful as we were surrounded by forest.”
“I found inspiration from good ole’ Pinterest as well as the website our wonderful wedding planner Celia, gave us access to – Aisle Planner. It has a tool similar to Pinterest, but you can select themes of weddings or colour pallets and it will show real weddings for inspo. The main DIY that we recreated from a wedding on Aisle Planner was our arch for the ceremony which had pinwheels and paper lanterns tied to it! We also DIY’d our guest favour which was an album of songs telling our story created by Joshua with the cover art painted by Haiden.” She explained.
“Planning our wedding was easy breezy. We had so much help from family and again our wedding planner, Celia Duncan! Celia would send us prompts for each month over our 10-month engagement to tackle at our own pace. It helped us not feel so weighed down or overwhelmed and kept us right on track. We officially started planning about two months into our engagement and finished up a few weeks before which made it out to be around 8 months of planning.”
“I cannot emphasise enough how much of a blessing a ‘day of wedding coordinator’ is! Celia was so kind to listen to our desires of how we wanted the day to feel. Then she walked us through a very chill timeline that gave breathing room for taking in the moments. We wanted to feel present and not rushed.”
“I loved all the details separately, but it was difficult to put together in my head what the reception would look like when it was all said and done. I wanted simple but not bare. When we entered our reception, all our dreams came into fruition and it was better than expected!”
“Celia wrote to us in an email towards the end of our engagement. She told us, everything that needs to get done, will get done. I took that to heart and really stepped back. I had dreamed of a simple, no fuss day. It’s about the love you share and the people who showed up to support you both. Anything else, can be set aside if necessary, to avoid losing sight of that.” Haiden continued.
“On the day of our wedding my flower crown was being assembled moments before I was supposed to be putting on my dress to head to my first look. I rushed it together and I wish I had slowed down and started it earlier.”
As for Josh…
“We used his sound equipment for the music. Unfortunately, one of the elements broke and caused the vocals to not play on any of the songs. We saved a lot in that area of the budget but it did cause a little stress before but we had to let it roll off our backs and move forward with the evening!”
“Remember that the details or making sure others are enjoying themselves are not important.” Josh added.
“It is your day. Be yourself and smile knowing that you are beginning the most wonderful adventure. Things will come to try and make you forget that and wreck that joy, but it’s so important to realize we can’t fix every little detail and rest in the love of one another. Be present. It is as simple and complex as that is.”
