BAREFOOT BOHEMIAN BARN WEDDING INSPO!
Wedding suppliers are always coming up with new and wonderful ways to stay inspired and get creative. Last September, the very first Dreamcapture Workshop for photographers was held in East Sussex and it was a huge success!
The aim of the workshop was to design exciting, stylish, and modern wedding inspiration for couples and suppliers. With the help of two gorgeous couples as models the creatives were tasked with capture genuine emotion and intentional details. Described as Wild, refined bohemian magic by the sea, I think you will agree – the results are truly magical.
“We had originally planned to shoot this editorial on the shores of Camber Sands, entirely outdoors on the beach – but the day ended up being a very windy and rainy one, so we took refuge at the Cherry Barn, which is a stunning 17th-century oak framed barn venue just outside Rye.” Began event planner, Valentina.
“As it turns out, it was perfect for the vibe we wanted to bring to life, and we were so delighted and lucky to have been able to shoot there! We loved that it showed how to create an intimate, seaside atmosphere even while indoors – and that we were able to combine this with the grassy textures of the farm’s beautiful orchard too. The wooden beams and warm tones complemented our styling ideas seamlessly, and the pairing truly felt like it was meant to be.”
“The inspiration for the aesthetic narrative and colour palette was that of rock and sand – we wanted to explore all different shades of earthy browns, taupes, and tans. At its heart, we wanted the atmosphere to feel bohemian, wild, and beachy, while still holding on to a refined and contemporary vibe. For the styling we played with mixing textures, including velvet, raffia, wood, shell, and terracotta – most notably for the dining table, complete with grazing feast and comfy cushions.” Valentina explained.
“As this shoot was being run as part of a workshop centred around the idea of intimate elopements, our priority and central inspiration was for the day to feel joyful and personal – with the kind of comfortable, meaningful luxuries that a nature-loving couple might treat themselves to for their celebration.”
“Using real couples as models for the workshop and editorials definitely gives the images that really special authenticity, emotion, and connection. I love incorporating natural moments of dancing, cuddles, and laughing, and hope this can show couples that they can have romantic and beautiful wedding portraits indoors no matter the weather!” Photographer, Rebecca Carpenter added.
“We were also inspired by the other fantastic suppliers that joined the team – Olivia from The Collect Co brought us a wonderland of props and furniture that truly felt like a bohemian dream – including some pieces that had mean lovingly hand-made and sourced by her during her travels around the world. Sarah from Avant Garde Studio has a truly unique style and versatility when it comes to cake design, and we were blown away by her ability to create modern, striking cakes that still feel romantic and wild.”
Florist Zuzanna from Bloomantic said: “I loved working with soft, warm, muted tones and a variety of gorgeous textures for the floral design of this workshop. I decided to incorporate a combination of fresh flowers, palm leaves, pampas grass and beautiful dried and bleached elements into all our arrangements, bouquets, and installations. I think this really helped to create a fun, unique boho-chic look! This shoot was very special to me because it marked the beginning of my love story with dried floral elements; it’s had a huge impact on my work and has taken my creativity to a whole new level.”
“Our hair and make-up artist, Storme, specialises in natural, fresh, glowing beauty- and we loved the way she interpreted the bohemian vibe in the looks she created. They were all soft, romantic, and relaxed – perfect for a bride wanting to look gorgeous, but still feel herself on her wedding day. Jenna from Wonderland Invites is the absolutely queen of bohemian stationery and played a key role in elevating and inspiring the theme. Her colour palette and illustrations embodied that sense of adventure we were paying homage to and we’re so grateful for her working with us despite having recently relocated to Australia! The outfits for our brides and grooms were inspired by the stunning collections of Love in Lace Bridal, Suits to Suit, Claire Hill, Lily& Roo, and the breath-taking dried flower creation of Folky Dokey – all of which encourage brides and grooms to express themselves in an authentic and exciting way. And finally, Emily from Plentifull helped us bring this to life by showcasing how couples looking for non-traditional, interactive catering can turn to her glorious grazing feasts!” Valentina continued.
“We hope this editorial inspires couples to have the wedding that is right for them, to have fun with their styling, and to connect with their dream team of suppliers in a heartfelt and authentic way. Small and intimate weddings can be just as joyful, and just as breath-taking, and are a perfectly valid option for couples out there affected by the current circumstances as well as for those whom a large wedding simply doesn’t reflect their personalities, values, or priorities. When it comes to the styling, I would encourage couples to think about all the meaningful, delightful details that are going to make up how the room feels – those little things that tell the story of YOU. And remember that a theme doesn’t mean being stuck by what Pinterest has to show you: you can re-interpret and modernise that aesthetic narrative to fit you and the things you love the most.”
