HOW TO APPLY JAPANDI STYLE TO YOUR WEDDING
Japandi. A word you probably haven’t heard of yet but you’re about to start seeing everywhere in the interiors world. Japandi is a mix of Japanese style and Scandinavian style. The point is that it’s simple, minimalist, warm, calming and often functional with a good dose of natural elements thrown in!
So how exactly can you apply this style to your big day? Well look no further because I’m about to break down 8 ways that show how you can incorporate the Japandi look into your wedding…
NEUTRAL COLOUR WALLS
The very first step to this style is those neutral wall colours so keep this in mind when choosing a venue, look for muted tones like beige, grey, natural woods in darks and lights, hints of blacks and even pale pinks.
FURNITURE
When choosing the chairs that the guests will be sitting on to eat, once again you’ll want natural wood tones or colours like off white and beige! Neutral fabrics can also work great here so if you’re having any furniture at your wedding, for example cosy arm chairs or sofa’s where people can chill pick those same neutral shades here! If you want to be really specific then also make sure you lean more towards natural fabrics such as cotton and wool for so that you’re bang in line with the basic design principles.
KEEP IT LIGHT AND AIRY
This circles back around to the venue but you’ll want to find a space with plenty of natural light. Dark rooms with lots of artificial light is definitely not the japandi vibe.

DECLUTTER
In both Japanese and Scandinavian design styles, simplicity is right at the heart of both. Less really is more here and you’ll want to keep things very minimal.
WOODEN FLOORS & DETAILS
We’ve touched upon how natural woods are a key element to this style and having a wooden flooring is one of the quickest ways to get this important feature into your wedding theme.
REAL PLANTS
Bring the outside in where you can, avoid bright floral arrangements and instead go for single stem plants, long elegant branches with pretty little buds and foliage.
THE DRESS
We already know this look is all about simple shapes so if you’re carrying this style over to your dress too then choose a beautiful, minimal piece with a simple cut. We love the split in this dress from this stylish elopement, it creates the perfect line-work that japandi is about!

USE ECO FRIENDLY & LOCAL MATERIALS
