SKATEPARK WEDDING IDEAS FOR BAD ASS BABES!
You guys know that we’re fans of unique wedding venues, but this is the first time we’ve featured a skate park built on an abandoned highway! I mean what’s weirder than that? Like so many weddings these days this team of creatives had to change their location last minute. What started out as a dream on wheels on Lake Champlain (Burlington, VT) morphed into something so much greater.
“The secret skate park ended up being perfect for the overall aesthetic”. Began wedding planner, Angela.
“The vibe was lady power all the way. It was the balance of femininity with bad ‘assness’!” She added.
“We were determined, to create this shoot one we or another so we hauled furniture, decor, and flowers over cement barriers a 1/4 mile through the woods…but it was totally worth it!”
“With COVID-19 we wanted to stress that you can still have your dream wedding. The option of a small (micro) intimate gathering, opens so many possibilities when you look outside the box.”
“We chose an eclectic and non-traditional place setting with bright vibrant colours. There was a lot to balance and represent in this shoot. It was important to us to showcase that our brides can be strong and determined as well as feminine and tranquil. As we arrived at the secret skate park with our cakes and decorations, we received a few weird looks from the group of guys currently skating there. It truly was a great feeling to see the shift in their attitude toward us ladies from annoyed to respect. When our model came flying down the pavement on her board in a 10-pound pink monster of a wedding dress and started doing tricks…she demanded respect and she got it! The interaction with the other skaters wasn’t a planned outcome of our shoot but it was inspirational and empowering on so many levels.” Angela explained.
“This shoot was unique for sure and not something you would see as a mainstream wedding idea. But that’s the point…it’s your day, make it what you want. One good thing to come out of COVID is how people are re-imagining what can be. Having a traditional “big white” wedding is not something everyone dreams of; especially now as couples are feeling more empowered to get creative and find a way that best represents who they are as a couple. There are so many hidden gems out there for wedding day festivities that aren’t your traditional ballroom or event space. As couples started to replan or plan their weddings, many will look at their wedding differently, realizing this day is about them.”
