DIY FABRIC COVERED BRIDAL SHOWER GUESTBOOK
Searching for a lovely DIY BRIDAL SHOWER GUESTBOOK? You’ve reached the right place. When I left secondary school I created a leavers book so that all my friends and classmates could record their memories of being at school with me and wish me good luck for the future.
At the time it was an excuse to cover something in wrapping paper, doodles and gems, (I was never one to miss out on a reason to craft) and get away with talking in class as I told teachers I just wanted to record memories of my favourite school, LOL! Fast forward 16 years, in what felt like no time at all, I came across the book again and literally could not put it down! I had so much fun reading through all those old messages, reliving the memories and thinking about how far we’d all come. I realised I would soon been hitting another milestone (I’m getting married if you didn’t know?) and I’d love to do something similar as way to remember my hen party and record messages of advice from my gal pals for the future. Plus, it was an excuse to use the cute material I’d recently got from Cricut.
So I created these guest books specifically for my hen party, using a variety of different printed fabrics and catchy slogans because honestly, I couldn’t choose just one. You could do exactly as I have or use your own fabric and customize your own slogans, either way they are ridiculously easy to make and I know your guests are just going to love them! You could also get EXTRA creative and use them for a bridal shower, bachelorette, wedding, birthday party or anniversary.
- Notebook
- Fabric (I used Cricut Fabric)
- Fabric Scissors
- Pencil
- Fabric Glue
- Cricut Iron On – Black
- Cricut Iron On – Pink
- Cricut Iron On – White
- Iron
First prep your notebook by removing the elastic band that keeps it closed, I just chopped it off using a pair of scissors
STEP 2:
Iron your fabric and lay it on a table, wrong side up. Use a ruler and pencil to draw out the shape. Mark where the spine is and a 3cm seam allowance along the top, bottom and sides.
Cut out your shape, then fold over and iron the seam allowance all the way around this will make it easier to glue to your notebook.
STEP 4:
Glue the front and back of the notebook then cover with the material, then glue the seams on the inside of the notebook and leave to dry. if desired, cut two pieces of card stock about 1/2″ smaller than the cover and glue them to the backside of the cover to hide the seams.
Open up the design space and type out the slogan in a font you like! I used ‘Banner Com’, ‘Cricut Sans’ and ‘Lipstick Lettering’. Size them to fit on your notebook, set the machine to cut out iron-on and hit that go button!
Position the iron-on, on top of the notebook, then cover with another piece of material and heat with an iron for 30-60 seconds according to the manufacturers instructions. (Please note: this extra layer of material will act as a barrier to stop the notebook from burning underneath.) Remove the transfer tape once the iron-on has cooled and voila you have your very own handmade guest book!
That’s really all there is to it, I told you it was easy!
